5.0 out of 5 stars A Most Disturbing and Challenging Book

5.0 out of 5 stars A Most Disturbing and Challenging Book, April 28, 2000
This review is from: Fire of Heaven (Fire of Heaven Trilogy, Book 3) (Paperback)
Who would think that a novel could be as challenging as any teaching book. That is what you will find in Fire of Heaven. Bill Myers has presented us with a tightly written allegory on God's love and holiness based loosely on the book of Revelation.

It was one of the most disturbing books I have ever read; it was definitely not what I would expect from a novel. I say disturbing, because my entire soul was stirred by the challenges the book raised to me. It called me back to my first love with God, to holiness, to faith, and worship like no book has done in some time.

I am deeply moved by the message of this book, and have been challenged to more christlikeness through reading it.

And the story is good too.

3.0 out of 5 stars Act Two Is Ablaze, November 16, 2001
This review is from: Fire of Heaven (Fire of Heaven Trilogy, Book 3) (Paperback)
After reading Bill Myers' incredible Blood Of Heaven, (one of the best books I have read in recent years), I was quite eager to read the second book in the trilogy, Threshold. I was extrememly disappointed with Threshold, it was far from a page turner. It was a very easy book to put down, I considered not finishing it a few times, however I was able to eventually get through it. I was extremely leery about picking up Fire Of Heaven, however the appearance of characters from Blood Of Heaven helped me to buy this book. How does it rate compared to the first two books of the trilogy? It is no where near as good as the first book and it is much better than the second.
I would have enjoyed this book so much more if it were 75 - 100 pages shorter. Myers spent far to much time setting the stage for the books final confrontation. I did not begin to really enjoy the book until I was nearly half way through it. As I stated earlier this one is much better than Threshold, however I was not captivated as I was with Blood Of Heaven. I found myself skimming some sections and really wanting to skip over others.
I am glad that I stayed with this book because Myers really kicked it into gear in the end. After finishing the book I could almost forgive Myers for boring me through the first half of the book. The second half of the book, along with the very exciting ending, were worth wading through some boring chapters.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Soul Stirring Book, December 20, 2000
This review is from: Fire of Heaven (Fire of Heaven Trilogy, Book 3) (Paperback)
The Fire of Heaven is the third book in The Blood of Heaven Trilogy. I enjoyed all three books, but the third one was the absolute best. I must say this book challenged me to look inward and apply the teachings of the book of Revelations to myself. In this book, Myers takes us to Turkey and walks us through the Biblical landmarks where the original seven churches in the Bible where. As he describes the condition of the landmark, Myers incorporates the letter directed at the appropriate church into the story. As if this isn't stunning enough, he applies it to the modern day church. Although this book has its thrilling moments, it is not exactly in the same genre as Left Behind. This novel was written for people who are already Christians. It will change the way you view Christ, the early church, and yourself.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not what I expected, September 3, 1999
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fire of Heaven (Fire of Heaven Trilogy, Book 3) (Paperback)
This book was no doubt a great read, but not at all what I expected. When I heard it was a combination of two of his earlier books (Fire of Heaven, and Threshold), I was excited because I loved both. However, to find that the innocent hero of one book (Fire of Heaven) is now the evil villian of another was hard to accept. Though the character change was explained, it was not sufficiently justified. It was nice to see Brandon mature from "Threshold" and become the prophet he was called to be though. My big question is "Will there be another sequel?" The book doesn't end necessarily as a cliffhanger, but there are so many dangling plot threads that you have to wonder if he's just leaving those there for the imagination or if he's planning on tying it all up in a last installment of the series. Of course, it would be very hard to make another book of this (you'll understand why when you read it), but it could be done. To fully appreciate the book, you need to read the other two first though. All in all, a good book with a good (though, at times, disturbing) plot and it's well-paced throughout - but it just leaves too much "out there" at the end. If there's another book in the series, I'll read it without hesitation. Maybe then that will help this one sit better as far as a story goes. As far as the message IN the story, THAT stands on it's own and no one should comment on that!

5.0 out of 5 stars My mind is just realing of the LOVE of God., September 8, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Fire of Heaven (Fire of Heaven Trilogy, Book 3) (Paperback)
This is a book every christian should read, (more than once). It is more like a study book to be read often. The book has touched my life in a way I cant explain. I am just on the fringe of realizing how much God loves us I mean truly loves us. I have been a christian for over 20 years and am now beginning to get a little touch of what his love is. SO AMAZING!!! It is a wonderful book.

I am writing this review as I am reading the novel. The reason for this is that I must share my experience with others. This book has put into words the call which God has place on my heart and many other christians. That call is for total submission to the Son of His love. I would strongly advise any believer that feels that God has called them to total submission to read this novel as an encouragement for their walk.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is great fiction!, May 25, 2000
This review is from: Fire of Heaven (Fire of Heaven Trilogy, Book 3) (Paperback)
From the start, if you bother to read the comments from the author, he does specificaly point out that he is NOT trying to tell the future, but simply a book of fiction. That being said....it is a FANTASTIC peice.

I had read the first book (Blood of Heaven), then the second (Threshold) and though the books are not related, he brought them together with such ease. How'd he do that? 3 people want to borrow the book from me.

If Bill Myers writes more adult fiction, I am buying it.

5.0 out of 5 stars 3rd and best of a great series!, March 10, 2000
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fire of Heaven (Fire of Heaven Trilogy, Book 3) (Paperback)
Fire of Heaven is the third of a series of three (so far) wonderful books with an entirely original treatment of the end days. Myers just may be better than Milton in justifying God's ways to man! Real people with real weaknesses are portrayed realistically in their trials to overcome evil with good. The characterization was as good as the plot, which is a rare find. The overall message was extremely thought-provoking and ultimately uplifting spiritually. I strongly recommend all three books: Blood of Heaven, Threshold, and Fire of Heaven.

5.0 out of 5 stars ATTENTION: Bride of Christ - This book is for you., August 17, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Fire of Heaven (Fire of Heaven Trilogy, Book 3) (Paperback)
I have never been so challenged by a fiction book before in my life! Bill Myers has revealed the heart of Christ for His Bride - He longs for holiness. This is not and end-times book. It is not another theory on what happens to Believers during the tribulation. This is a book that will help you prepare your heart for the return of our Lord. Are you ready? If you think you are, read this book. If you know you are not, read this book. You WILL be challenged; and I pray you will be changed!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Christian fiction that I've ever read, January 7, 2000
This review is from: Fire of Heaven (Fire of Heaven Trilogy, Book 3) (Paperback)
I was so moved by this book, I am nearly at a loss for words.

Fire of Heaven, by Bill Meyers, is not just an engaging story....it's story and characters illustrate the ulimate level of commitment to Christ and God that we must attain to break the chains of this un-Godly world, and the utter joy to be found when someone is successful.

Highly recommended!
