Glass casserole dishes are wonderfully dependable--they last for years, are easy to clean, and they never react with flavors like some metal pans. The Fire-King Jade-ite 2-quart covered casserole dish is no exception. Sturdy American craftsmanship and basic all-around know-how are both clearly displayed in Fire-King cookware. This is a multi-purpose casserole, good for gooey dishes with lots of cheese, home-style desserts, or simple baked veggies. And the lid is helpful for storage, too; any cooled-down leftovers can go right into the fridge. (For a truly airtight seal, use some plastic wrap between the lid and casserole.) The Jade-ite is gorgeously retro, all opaque with a milky pale-green hue.
This 2-quart casserole is microwave-safe, so it can also be used for heating broth or melting butter. Two broad side handles make for a balanced grip; just make sure and use potholders because they do heat up with the rest of the casserole in the oven.
