Kaye Brand is a mage and her power is wielding fire. To survive she's been selling her powers - for the right price. Jack Bastian wants nothing to do with the mage, but he's gonna need Kaye's help. Especially if he wants to take out Ferrol Grey, Kaye's one time fiance.

Fire Kissed is the first book in the Shadow Kissed series, a spin off of the Shadow series. If you enjoyed the Shadow books you won't want to miss this new one.

Excellent addition to the Shadowverse. I loved it. Kaye Brand and Jack Bastian make a great team. Kaye is a powerful character, especially with her fire power. But I really loved Jack. He is simply a delicious character. Fire Kissed is a wonderful read. Filled with shadow, mages and angels. Ms. Kellison writes beautifully dark stories that never fail to amaze me. I look forward to reading more of this new series.

Dark, enchanting, passionate, and magical are the words I would use to describe Erin's world ofShadow.

I will tell you ahead of time I am a Kellison fangirl. I love her writing and the dark magical world she created in her Shadow series. Shadow is the magic that is slowly seeping out of Twilight, the boundary between life and death where the Fae live, into the human realm and bringing along with it monsters. In her Shadow series (Shadow Bound, Shadow Fall, Shadowman ) we are introduced to the Segue Institute run by humans who are trying to understand Shadow and Twilight because the walls are falling and magic is once again affecting our world. The Order is the angelic host that lives on the other side of Twilight (Heaven) and tries to protect humans from Shadow. This series is a mixture of romance, suspense and magic. Fire Kissed is the first book in Kellison's new Shadow Kissed series, which is set in the Shadow world and introduces us to Mages.

Mages are descended from Fae. They live in the human world and have some Shadow inside them that they can use like magic, but they can't cross into Twilight or Heaven because they have no soul and, like the Fae, Mages have always defied Heaven. Thousands of years ago the mages tried to take over the human world and The Order (angels) fought a vicious battle to stop them and even now kill them on sight. But with Shadow leaking back into the world, the Mages who have stayed hidden are becoming stronger and Ferrol Grey is raising an army to take the world back from humans. Earth is about to be plunged back into a war between the Order and Mages, but becoming allies might be the only way for mage, human, and angel to survive the return of the Fae and Shadow.

Kaye Brand belonged to one of the strongest mage Houses. When she was fifteen she was set to marry Ferrol Grey but when she refused the marriage she changed her life and her family's forever.

Kaye now makes money using her mage fire talent. There is a revolution coming in the mage community. Kaye is determined to keep to herself. After all, she left the mage world when they turned against her. However, The Order of Angels has a job that only Kaye can complete.

Angels and mages are sworn enemies but it's angel Jack Bastian's job to persuade Kaye to join the Angels in their latest endeavor. The angels are trying to figure out what Kaye's ex-fiancé Ferrol Grey is planning. Jack has no use for mages but something about Kaye draws him like a moth to a flame. He finally gets her to agree but now Jack has put Kaye in the line of fire and he's desperate to keep her from harm.

Can an angel and a mage team up to successfully save the world from a coming catastrophe? As the world suffers from some `not so natural' disasters Kaye and Jack struggle to find the evil behind it and a way to deal with their burgeoning feelings. Will they find their own happily ever after or will they lose everything?

Erin Kellison's Fire Kissed is one delicious read with its fiery characters and passion filled plot! Ms. Kellison has a unique way of drawing her readers into the story immediately and Fire Kissed is no different. The beginning is startling. The view the reader gets into Kaye's life at that moment is vivid, striking and just a little bit terrifying. I felt like I was holding my breath when the tension thickened as Kaye discovered some harsh truths. When we get our first look at Kaye years later we find her a very different person.

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle L. Olson:

This is still one of my very favorite Urban Fantasy series, even if this is a spin-off - Book #4 in the Shadow world, book #1 of the Shadowkissed series.

While I liked the books of the 'original' series a bit better, this was still dark, beautifully written, and intriguing from beginning to end. I stand by my initial comments after completing Shadow Bound (book #1 of the Shadow series) - Erin writes with poetic prose that is utterly captivating...

Our characters: Kaye Brand is a mage with some trauma in her background. Jack Bastian is an angel with a bit of an attitude. While angels and shadows don't generally mix, Jack's current assignment pairs him up with Kaye in an attempt to gather some information for the Order and rid the world of the growing Wraith problem. In doing so, they are forced to work together - the smoldering attraction is an interesting side effect. :)

While I didn't jump up and down with love for Jack and Kaye like I did for the other pairs in the series, I still absolutely adore this world that Erin has built and I eagerly immerse myself in it every chance I get. I did love the twists that the story took (you're just going to have to read it to find out what I'm talking about!) and I thoroughly enjoyed the way that Erin ended the book as a segue to the coming installments and a HEA for Jack and Kaye.

I was also pleased to have a reappearance of Kahn and the other members of Segue. I had missed them so much and was so glad to be able to 'say hi' again. :)

LITERAL ADDICTION gives Fire Kissed 4 Skulls. I can't wait for the next novel from Erin!
