I will admit that I wasn't so sure about this book when I first picked it up; but not even six hours later, I had finished it! The characters and story are well written, the story taking so many turns your head will spin. I recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure and romance- I guarentee you won't want to put it down!

Read the first book of the trilogy and couldn't wait until I got to the second. Started it last night and had to read through to the finish. So why give it only three stars? My question for McAllister is how could you give it this ending. What a great romance, hero and heroine that you grow to love, and twists and turns in place to make it a truly classic historical romance, and then it crashes. McAllister build us up to the scene with the "bad guy" by training Kat to be a great swordswoman and then Kat falls apart, Morgan tries to be a hero, misses, and the "bad guy" .... Leave off the witchcraft, it's unnecessary and in many ways "ugly". The scene in Kat's room and in the cave should be removed. It totally spoiled the book for me. Having an ordinary crazy, evil woman is one thing, but this just spoils what was a lovely read and fails to answer the many questions still there. Who was trying to kill Morgan? Flowers on the table that are poisonous put there by a woman who isn't trying to frighten our heroine, but wants to kill her? If every the last quarter of a book needed a rewrite, in my opinion this is it.
