4.0 out of 5 stars Great idea- One less thing on the table
This is a great little heater, and I'd defiantly buy it again! You have the freedom to decide how much heat you need by being able to turn on one, two, or all three heat lamps at once. If you want more heat, you can even slide the heater down the pole closer to where you are sitting. It accommodates a 1.5" to 2" diameter umbrella pole so it fits the standard poles on the...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not good for cold climates
The unit arrived in timely fashion and "worked" as advertised. The only problem is that it does not put out enough BTU's for a cold climate. I live in the Chicago area and wanted to use it for cool fall evenings. The night I first used it, it was about 40 degrees outside. I could not feel any heat being put out. I think it will work best when the low temps are in the...

4.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful product but..., January 7, 2010

I saw this unique heater and thought it would be perfect for cold winter days/nights, as I like to sit outside on my patio enjoying a hot cup of coffee and cigar. The product is well built - heavy duty electrical wiring makes it possible to keep outside at all times. Each 'blade' folds down, so it's possible to close the heater and the umbrella both during high winds, snow, etc. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of light each blade puts out and with a feature that allows you to use 1, 2 or all 3 blades. Installation is simple, adjustments are easy and it fits almost all umbrella sizes. Superb engineering and design.

The only disappointing feature is the limited amount of heat put out by each blade. In moderate climates, this heater would be sufficient to take the chill out. In colder climates (I'm in the DC metro area), this product by itself doesn't do the trick. I've combined it with a table-top heater to make this currently very cold winter bearable. Ultimately, because it's advertised as a heater, I have to say: if you live in colder climates, buyer beware.

2.0 out of 5 stars Weak Heater, December 25, 2009

About all this heater does well is produce light at night. The heating feature is very weak and is barely felt while sitting at my outside table of four. I don't recommend.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not thrilled, but OK., January 21, 2010

Needed some sort of heater on the patio, and I was debating propane vs electric. This heater does take the chill off, but not as effective as propane. It creates a bright light, so if you want a little heat and alot of light it works well; I have since bought a used short propane heater, and the two together work very well!

3.0 out of 5 stars Well-built, but does not produce much heat, February 2, 2012

This serves as a great light, but does not produce enough heat to be marketed as a "heater". You'd have to be dangerously close to the heating element for this to be useful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Like Heat on the Patio When It's COLD, December 1, 2011

My wife and I are completely satisified. It's easy enough to clamp onto the umbrella pole by the way the slotted section removes and forms a "U" shape groove for it to slip right onto the pole. Then you simply slide the slotted insert back in and tighten the knob. Because it's so easy to install, we bring the unit in the house during the week and take it back out on the weekend. You can easily adjust the height of where you want to locate it on the pole. It's an exceptional value.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad Product, June 11, 2011
This review is from: Fire Sense 60404 Indoor/Outdoor Infrared Heater with Patio Umbrella Pole Attachment (Lawn & Patio)
Terrible product. I live in Southern Calif and tried the product out on a slightly cool evening (59 degrees). The temp was only slightly uncomfortable, but the heater did NOT add any noticeable heat. Of course I returned it.

I'm using this under my patio on a pole i fixed from the roof. Works great as long as its not windy, something i mean to fix with some screens. I'm outside every weekend with friends and havent noticed much of a change in my electric bill from when we used just our jackets to keep warm.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not very warm, January 2, 2011

This review is from: Fire Sense 60404 Indoor/Outdoor Infrared Heater with Patio Umbrella Pole Attachment (Lawn & Patio)
In order to get warm you have to drop the heater down really low on the umbrella pole. I thought this would be a handy device to keep everyone warm at the table but it just really doesn't warm things that much even with it dropped down and blocking your view of everyone else.
Not worth the cash.
