At first glance, the book may be a little baby-ish for your preschooler. However, the CD that it comes with has the "I wanna Ride in a Firetruck" song that is adorable and appropriate for kids from 3 to 7. Teachers, our child's class performed this at assembly in full fireman costume and it was a huge hit! The song talks all about being a fireman...from getting dressed, to squirting that firehose, to riding home for a "hot, hot dinner" and dreaming about riding in his Firetruck. It's easy for the kids to memorize and my son still loves to sing it all the time.

My friend teaches kindergarten in a rural school nearby and she accepted my gift of this remarkable song and book, not sure what to expect! But after playing the song Fire Truck and showing the book at the same time -- she reported the kids were excited, smiling and delighted!(and so were the parent helpers visitng that day!) Now they ask for it several times a day!
I gave the song and cd to another kindergarten teacher and she explained to both the afternoon and morning classes that I'd provided the song and book! They grinned and began to sing it for me!
Can't say enough about how fun this combination of song and CD are!

I am a Music Teacher at Montessori preschool. My class includes children ages 2 1/2 to 6 years. This story and music are perfect for the whole class. Boys especially will enjoy this story, however, girls will really like it too. The music is good quality, that is what I search for in a story-music lesson. The book is beautifully illustrated and well written. I have purchased other Scholastic Sing and Read Storybooks and they are great also.
I will read the book to the class; then we will listen to the musical story and sing along with the CD. All of the students will love to participate in this musical lesson.

Our almost 4-yr-old son knew most of the song within one week... and he loves to read the book together. Great illustrations. The CD is great with B-I-N-G-O, the Fire Truck Song and She'll be comin round the mountain on it. This was a lucky pick... and definately a keeper. The story details the fire fighter's day... from work, to what he eats for supper and what he dreams about when he goes to bed. I highly recommend it!

i teach in a three-year-old preschool classroom. the children LOVE this song/book! they want to listen to it all the time. and they love to sing along!! helps to quiet the kids quickly for circle time.

I have totally gotten my use out of this book. The kids love it and we can't get enough!! Wins the award in my book for the most catchy tune ever!!

My daughter absolutely loves the song FIRE TRUCK by Ivan Ulz. This is a really cute book (for toddlers) that illustrates the song and also comes with the song on CD. I highly recommend this for any little kids, even if they don't know Ivan Ulz they will quickly become a fan. And this is a kid's song that parents can enjoy unlike so many kids songs you have to tolerate.

My son is 3 1/2 and has known and sang the words to this song since he was 2. It's a big hit at his daycare. The song/book is also a video on Youtube. search for Ivan Ulz. The book is not really out of print -- you can buy it through Scholastic's school market. If you know a kid or teacher in a school or daycare who gets the Scholastic pamphlets to order through -- this comes up there from time to time.

My granddaughter LOVES this booka and the music. It has been a big hit!!

I originally found a cassette tape of this song in a thrift store. I played it for my grandson, and he loved it! He sang along, and put all his heart into it. Later, I found it on-line and then discovered this book with a CD of the original song on Amazon. I was delighted to purchase three copies of the book with the CD to send to my three youngest grandsons. My three-year old sings it all the time. Ivan Ulz sings and plays in a animated style that brings the big, bright pictures to life. Who knows... broccoli may even become a favorite food.
