When your FireEar Monitor hears your existing smoke detector, it calls the FireEar Service Center which then alerts you and a friend via e-mail, SMS text and a phone call. Both the phone call and e-mail include a sound track for smoke detector sound verification. Avoid Freeze and Water Damage. Get an alert when the indoor temperature approaches freezing so you can take action and prevent water damage caused by burst plumbing. Avert Power Outage Ramifications. A dead sump pump? A freezer thawing? Find out when the power goes out and when it is restored so you can act before it’s too late. Prevent Energy Waste. For less than $5 a month, you can get an alert when the temperature reaches any of 6 user-settable levels. Find out if you need to take action when guests, renters or the cleaning staff leaves the thermostat at the wrong setting. The Standard Monitoring Service bundle includes a FireEar FE-1100 Monitor and a 12-month subscription to the Standard Service plan (a value of $40), which includes alerts for smoke detector alarms, indoor freeze, power outages and smoke detector low battery warnings.The FireEar monitor is simple to set up, requiring only a power outlet and a telephone line to communicate with the FireEar Service Center. Service registration takes a few minutes over the Internet. What is in the box: One FireEar FE-1100 Monitor (4-inch by 1.5-inch high) with AC power supply, 3 AAA backup batteries, a 12-foot phone cord and mounting tape and screw. No more worry of frozen pipes and the horrible destruction which follows. No more worry of a fire with no one home to call the fire department. No more worry of a power failure and the heat not going on. With the professional service, if a smoke detector sounds, the FireEar company even calls the fire department for me. The peace of mind is priceless. Speaking of price, my insurance discount covers the cost of the service. Did I say I get peace of mind for free! Not too shabby!

If you have a vacation home this is the product to get. I have a house in the mountains where very often the power will go out and/or the heater will not work. One of our neighbors had their heater go down, temperature dropped to -10 and burst the pipes in the house. Two weeks later hundreds of thousands of dollars of damage. The FireEar tells me when the heat goes up or down via email or cell. It was easy to setup and works great. I highly recommend this product for anyone with a second home.

Product works great! Didnt realize that it actually listens to your smoke detector, then contacts you if the smoke detector goes off. So, you'll need a separate smoke detector as well. But once its setup, it will call, text or email you and anyone else you choose.
