Nothing more was needed to be known before I bought this book. It was a good book to read.

Anthologies are tricky to rate, how to balance several seperate stories?

Hot Down Under by Susan Lyons is fabulous, same as everything she has written. Author admits this story is written in an unusual tense, not bad just different. This novella takes place in Australia, is emotionally moving, and very hot. This story alone is worth purchasing the book...

Hot Down Under by Susan Lyons is fabulous, same as everything she has written. Author admits this story is written in an unusual tense, not bad just different. This novella takes place in Australia, is emotionally moving, and very hot. This story alone is worth purchasing the book.

PJ Mellor's heroine was totally unattractive to me, klutzy, embarrassed, and pathetic. I don't remember an upside to the story, which continued from bad to worse.

The novella contribution by Allysa Brooks is my favorite example of authors who should not write sex scenes about acts which they are obviously unfamiliar. IMO these are varying degrees of unlikely, uncomfortable, or impossible (ie can a peeled banana be used as a dildo? And is this totally gross?). Please try it yourself or at least perform adequate research before attempting to describe erotic or kinky sex, otherwise it reads like Jr. High hormone induced fantasy.

2.0 out of 5 stars A big disappointment, June 7, 2008
This review is from: The Firefighter (Club Fantasy) (Paperback)
As a whole, this anthology was a huge disappointment! The first story "Hot Down Under" by Susan Lyons was by far the best of a bad lot. The story was well rounded, with some good sex scenes, and likable characters. "All Fired Up" by P.J. Mellor, was a bit hard to take. Nothing that happened in the story was feasable, and way to cheesy. And "Fighting Fires" by Alyssa Brooks...well, I couldn't even finish it, it was so bad! No story line what so ever...just sex. I understand that this is erotica, but at least give me something to build on.

4.0 out of 5 stars Let's hear it for Firefighters every where., December 5, 2007
This review is from: The Firefighter (Club Fantasy) (Paperback)
Lyons' Hot Down Under, for sure the title says it all. The story did a great job of grabbing you in and keeping you going through to the end. rich in plot rich in character. Mellor's Fired up was burning up. Funny and intriguing. It was a little different than her other stuff but in a definite good way. Now for Brooks, Fighting Fire, Yeah great job Brooks. Fiesty fun and exciting. Good plot fun antagonists, it was a truly enjoyable read.
