5.0 out of 5 stars This is a well thought out book, March 26, 2000

This is a great improvement over the standard Essentials of Firefighting put out by IFSTA. The writing is better, the graphics are outstanding and there is great background information on each subject.
If you just want a textbook, purchase the IFSTA book. If you are interested in really reading and grasping the essentials then purchase this encyclopedia of knowledge and insight.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great handbook, March 5, 2007

This is a great resource for firefighters. I went through the fire academy and spent the past few years using IFSTA Essentials to study with. I found the Firefighter's Handbook to be much more entertaining and enlightening. The chapters read alot easier and seem to be written for firefighters rather than students. It's loaded with more fire service history and many more tips and tricks of the trade than essentials. Highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars five stars for this book!, October 6, 2004
This review is from: Firefighter's Handbook: Essentials of Firefighting and Emergency Response (Paperback)
I'm a firefighter in the other side of the world, where firefighting has still a
great need of improvement. Firefigthing here is in the stone age. This book help me improve my knowledge and technical skills of firefighting as a whole. Since I've read this book it made me feel more confident when I'm in the fire scene knowing that I have greater knowldege in my work because of the things I've got from this book. From the basics to the more complicated.

Also, the streetsmart tips and job performance task with pictures makes this book really an instructional and real life guide to firefigthing.

This is the real deal! Buy now its worth every penny!
