"CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!" The fire alarm has gone off in the station and the firefighters are rushing to get on their equipment and rush to the fire trucks and leave the station Even Spot their Dalmatian has his fire helmet on and is running and raring to go. The pumper truck is the first one out of the station. "WHEEEE-AHHHHH!!! WHOOOOOOO!" Someone is pointing the way to go. The chief's car leads the way and the flashing lights tell everyone to move to the side of the road so they can get by.

"Lift the ladder, haul the hose.
Hydrant's open, water flows.
Flames flare up into the sky.
Aim that water, shoot it high."

The flames are shooting out the windows. A firefighter takes his ladder down from the truck while another aims his hose toward the fire. One grabs an ax and starts running while another grabs her Scott Air Pack and starts climbing. Of course Spot is right behind with a hose. Will they be able to save the people?

This book is right on target with the rhyming text and doesn't miss a beat. The excitement builds throughout the book as the trucks race to the fire. The art work is colorful and very appealing. If you are a firefighter this is a book you'll want to read to your children (and secretly recite to yourself). This is a book with a wide appeal and you won't regret buying this one. "WHEEEE-AHHHHH!!! WHOOOOOOO!"

My four year old sons absolutely love this book. There's a dalmatian named Spot and his favorite part is hearing about he gets a bone at the end of the day while the firefighters rest and relax. The characters in the illustrations are appealing to preschoolers and there's lots to discuss with both text and illustrations!

I checked this book out from the library and my son, who is 2, doesn't want to read anything else. He insists we read this book twice a day or more. He absolutly loves this book!
