A Must Have for High-Rise and Standpipe Applications!,
By J K "Idaho Fireman" (Rigby, ID USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Firefighting Operations In High-Rise And Standpipe-Equipped Buildings (Hardcover)
Chief McGrail gave a Hands On Training in our area and it was one of the best that I've been involved in out of my 16-years in the fire service. Prior to the class, I got a copy of his book and read it from cover to cover and found this to be a necessity to get the most out of his training. The book is well worth the money and I recommend it to anyone who responds to high-rise, wide-rise or any structure with standpipe systems in them. I ESPECIALLY recommend it to any department who still primarily operates off of 1 3/4 inch attack lines. Our department is currently implementing the tried-and-true 2 1/2 inch handlines as a result of his training and sharing of personal experience as well as case studies around the nation.

Not that great,

I purchased this book hoping to gain better knowledge about sprinkler and standpipe systems in high rise buildings. There was very little information about this topic in this book and the topics covered are nothing you wouldn't find in any IFSTA publication. Not worth purchasing if you already have books that cover high rise operations.
