5.0 out of 5 stars Cool!
This is the coolest plane. It flies so easy and I can fly it right in my backyard. It flies for about 4 minutes and then you have to let the battery cool for a minute and it recharges really fast.

5.0 out of 5 stars Firefly: Good starter plane, August 14, 2005
This review is from: Firefly Radio Controlled Airplane: Orange (27 MHz) (Toy)
I purchased this plane for my 9 year old. Out of the box is was extremely easly to make ready for flight. On his first flight the plane worked perfectly. I have tried many other planes before - all of them ended up in pieces within the first three flights - but NOT this one. I am happy to say that in the first 15 flights the plane has worked well and has not broken. The battery charges quickly and can be done right on the field. I was surprized that the manufacturer guarentees that if the plane breaks in the first year, that they will replace it for basically the cost of shipping... very nice. The only issue with the plane is that because it is very light, small and has limited power, the plane needs to be flown when there is almost no wind. Any wind (over 5 mph) and the plane wants to head down wind the whole time. If you are looking for a good gift, this one is really great.

Finally, a plane that I can fly at my schools gym. and outside.

Called the company to get extra batteries. Wish they carried them on Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally awesome, January 1, 2006
This review is from: Firefly Radio Controlled Airplane: Orange (27 MHz) (Toy)
I really hesitated before buying this product. My son is a pretty intense eight year old and I had visions of us breaking it the first time out. That actually happened, but I followed the instructions and taped the wing and it is like new. The durability of this craft is unbelievable. I completely turned over the controls to my eight year old the second day out and, after several rough and tumble crashes, which the craft endured wonderfully, he was doing it all by himself. We were at a track/football field at the time and the walkers had a blast just watching him do it. This is a great father/son bonder. You will not be disappointed. If you are having trouble with a couch potato, Nintendo junkie, get one of these planes and you will get him or her hooked on a great outdoor activity.

This flimsy plane lasted for two very short "flights" (7 seconds) before the crash damage rendered it useless. I bought a Firefly for my daughter's birthday. It was the "big" present, out of all her presents - the one she was looking forward to the most. Out of the box I noticed that it was kinda flimsy - very thin styrofoam wings. When discharging the battery as instructed by the manual, by holding it in hand while powering the props, I noticed that about halfway through the charge, in "climb" mode for both engines, one engine seemed to have less power (I noticed it more by sound rather than revolution or pull).

The next day we tried it out. I told my 8 year old daughter I'd fly it for the first few flights until she could watch and learn the controls and their effects enough to control it. Our first flight lasted 5 seconds, until the plane turned and took a nose dive from about 3 feet off the ground. When I picked it up, I noticed a slight nick in the wing behind one engine and surmised that the wind must have flex forward enough for the prop to take a bite out of it. The second flight lasted two seconds - enough time for the plane to turn and dive, again from about three feet off the ground. The second crash broke the tail. That was it. I paid $50 for 7 seconds of "enjoyment". I know Megatech has a replacement guarantee, but what fool would pay this company another $40 for another 7 seconds of "enjoyment". Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun, but maybe not worth the money, October 20, 2010

I purchased this as a gift for my boyfriend. A childhood throwback kind of thing. It was pretty fun when we finally figured out how to fly it, but it wasn't the most durable thing ever. We crashed it a few times before it finally broke. On the upside it was relatively easy to fix, but it affected the way the plane flew after the first time we repaired it. Overall it was a nice little throw back, but maybe not worth the money and definitely not recommended for children.

With much excitement my 9 year old daughter was eager to fly the plane. The first few runs were great; however, when we went to fly the plane later it would not fly correctly. We recharged the battery according to the directions and now we cannot get it to even start. Calling the manufacturer today and hoping for a receptive response. It is easy to operate but definitely not the most durable toy.

This airplane is a piece of junk. Worked for 40 seconds and failed.
I still have not gotten my refund.

It should be rated with - stars.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lacks Durability, January 2, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I cannot comment on the performance of this plane. It broke immediately out of the box. It is way too fragile for most younger (and probably older) pilots. My eleven-year-old and eight-year-old sons were a couple of disappointed chaps that Christmas afternoon.
