5.0 out of 5 stars The Return of the Firefox, October 13, 2006

This review is from: Firefox Down (Paperback)
Craig brings back USAF pilot Mitchell Gant to finish the story he had started with Firefox. Although Craig often uses continuing sub-plots and recurring characters throughout his books, this is the only one that I would consider a "sequel".

The book picks up the action right where the first one had ended. After coming out as victor of an intense dogfight with the second Firefox, Gant soon learns he's losing fuel thanks to the debris from the destoryed Firefox. Gant is forced to crash land the plane on a frozen lake in Finnish Lapland and narrowly escapes from the plane as it sinks underwater. Gant then puts as much distance betweeen himself and the crash site, knowing that the KGB will soon be on his trail. Now, the West has to race to the crash site and somehow get Gant back to fly it out before the Russians get to it first. Dmitri Priabin, who had a small role in the first Firefox, has an extended part here, and his sub plot will continue in the third Gant book Winter Hawk.

Another great one from Craig. I was a fan of the movie for the first Firefox and it's dissapointing that this, or any other of Craig's books for that matter, didn't get silver-screen adaptations aswell. Still, it was the first Firefox and this one that I had first read of Craig's books and made me want to keep reading.
