Adams believes that communal dining is a treasured pastime, and that firefighters epitomize this spirit. With the table set, and the ever-present awareness that an alarm might sound, these brave men and women are still able to prepare hearty, down-to-earth, and often wonderful meals together. In Adams’s words, "For all their hard work and courage, I wanted to honor them with a book from their contemporaries around the continent."

From the Author

I am as proud of this cookbook as I am of all the men and women who helped make "Firehouse Cooking" so successful. While promoting this cookbook over the last ten years I've had an opportunity to meet even more firefighters, from Bangkok to the UK, and it never ceases to amaze me how strong their sense of fraternity is. This book is dedicated to our firefighters—some of the most heroic men and women the world has ever known. Everyday they bravely expose themselves to potential peril; often saving us from ourselves and often under-appreciated. That is one reason why I insisted the quality of this edition had to be excellent. You deserve it. You deserve the best. For keeping watch over our lives and property—

I join everyone, everywhere, in saying thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars FireHouse Cooking-Food From America's Bravest, January 20, 2005
This review is from: Firehouse Cooking: Food from America's Bravest (Hardcover)
I new I would like this book when I saw it. It is a COLLECTION of firehouse recipes-not just recipes from one person or the way a certain person cooks. It has a lot of variety, simple to follow instructions, recipes with few ingredients that I usually have in the house and are quick to prepare. I have used the same recipes for dinner parties or just the two of us. Recipes are easy to double, triple or halve and still taste the same and turn out. It is also food we normally eat. I use it constantly, often doubling recipes so I can freeze leftovers. It's a great everday cookbook-THANK YOU RG ADAMS!

This is a very detailed, very nice book. Great for the firefighter looking for a little help in the kitchen. We all know how picky firefighters can be when it comes to chow.
