Book Description

A Contemporary Fantasy Series with Old Fashioned Charm. This Fantasy Box Set includes Books 1,2 and 3 from the Fated Saga. Awaken, Shifting and Embrace… Mind reading teens, Meghan and Colin Jacoby, help a young man whose family is forced to flee through a magical portal to another world, without him. Young adult friendly, mild/moderate violence and scary situations.

Meghan and Colin Jacoby are looking forward to a typical summer, which means their uncle (and guardian) will pull into the Cobbscott Campground just off the coast of Maine and park his travel trailer for three full months.

Normally, they’d never spend more than a couple weeks in any one place, their uncle preferring to stay on the move. Why did he do this? The twins have never thought to ask.

Their only concern being that their friend Sebastien will be in Cobbscott as well... the one person who also happens to know their secret- that the twins are telepathic. Something they’ve never even told their uncle.

Within hours of arrival, Meghan and Colin are making plans to meet up with Sebastien, but before they can, unexpected guests arrive. Guests with reserved campsites… reserved, but unused for years. And even more curious is that within hours, it is clear that these new visitors did not come alone! Something else has followed them. Something with an eerie shadow that flies across the tree tops screeching out a warning that can have only one meaning: we know where you are.

A Magical and Dangerous Fantasy Adventure Begins…

Editorial Reviews

  • "Wow. Just wow. This was a book I desperately wish existed when I was a young teen. Not only was it an amazingly well-written story, but it reminded me of other great fantasies I have read. Reminiscent of books like Something Wicked This Way Comes. The ending blew me away and left me wanting more. I can't wait to read the second book!"- A Girl and Her Kindle
  • "This enjoyable teen read mixes suspense and action with funny elements and serious parts.  I look forward to seeing where the series many senses of that word.  To know what I'm getting at, read the book." -The Paisley Reader

4.0 out of 5 stars Creative story line... April 4, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I think the author has really thought through the story line and has made sure to give it several dimensions, which is why I've continued to read this Saga. I will say, however, that the author's writing style is a little immature. An absolute refusal to use any standard abbreviations, in keeping with normal speech patterns, is a bit annoying to read. Thirteen year old children, no matter how magically talented they are, don't say "do not" instead of "don't" when they are talking to each other. Also, the author spent a considerable amount of time through one particular character to stress that the two kids who are the focal point of the story-line, remain loyal to each other and not keep secrets. Yet, there is no connection in their thoughts and actions about not keeping secrets, which they continue to do. I understand this is a storytelling technique to create tension, etc., however, the way it's written is clumsy. I hope the author fixes these small things as we move through what now looks to be at least a 10-book saga. I am currently reading #4 and have purchased up through #8.

As a whole I enjoyed these three books. They were quick, interesting, and easy to read. My only one major issue with this series is just how immature the dialogue is... yes I understand its a young adult book but as a whole its something I would have even found immature in my early teens.

First of all let me say that I did not finish this series. Not, because I thought it was a bad story or even an intermediate story line, but I just thought it was geared toward a much younger reader. I thought it had a wonderful plot and an original story line from the first 8 chapters that I read.

I think if you are a teenager or maybe a little older this is a great story for you. If you are a mature person, such as myself, I don't think you will be as enthralled with the style of writing. The main characters are after all only 13 years old and for me that is just too young.

It has strong characters and it has a great and very different story line. I don't like giving it a three star rating but for me there wasn't enough warning that this was a much younger target audience and it therefore was too juvenile for my tastes. I do believe that if the author had this marketed as young teen or early adolescence she would have a much better chance of getting and attaining the higher star ratings.

So, while didn't like it for me and my generations of readers, I loved it for a young readership. So, just be cautious when deciding if this one is for you. It's a great value for the money for a young person.

3.0 out of 5 stars Poor Proofreading Distracts from a Good Book July 18, 2014

The Firemancer Collection is a fast-paced, exciting novel in three parts. The story line holds the reader's interest. It's too bad that the poor proofreading distracted from an enjoyable read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good break from reality June 10, 2014

Purchased this on a whim, interesting story and decently written. I'm glad this came as a set as I feel I would have been disappointed with only the first book. This set is entertaining and and now for the next collection! I recommend this if you enjoy fantasy tales of life and discovery.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well-written and enjoyable. June 29, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
There was a fairly constant stream of things be learned or experienced to keep most readers happy and turning pages. It seemed geared more for the young adult crowd, but I still enjoyed it.
