When you use this Grate Heat Exchanger in an open fireplace, you will realize a saving on your heating costs.
The all steel design uses several perfectly sized heavy duty 1" tubes for maximum heat exchanger surface area, superior airflow volume, and maximum combustion area volume. These C shaped tubes are welded along a manifold that is filled with cool home air. The tubes then heat the air along the bottom, back and top. Hot air is then blown back into the room with velocity. The AC fans plug into a standard wall outlete, they are quiet running at a measured 55 db, and deliver 100 CFM. With the option of a variable speed fan control when mood is more important than heat output you can reduce the background hum of our heat exchangers in operation for the perfect ambiance.
This serves to increase the comfort of your entire home, conserve the amount of wood you burn, and nearly eliminate the need for other expensive methods of climate control.
These are stocked in 4 sizes designed to fit completely within their square measurements: 14", 16", 20", and 24". Rectangular units can be readily assembled from stock components.
Two styles are offered. One has a single row of heat exchanger tubes with a single fan. The other has two rows of heat exchanger tubes staggered one above the other and spaced which provide maximum heat capturing surface area without blocking or obstructing the rising smoke with 2 fans.

I love my fireplace grate heater, hastyheat.com rocks....,

In my home we have a large arched masonry fireplace, the nicest thing about it is how my wife likes to snuggle up on the couch and watch a fire burn. As with most open masonry fireplaces it is an attractive mantle which is the centerpiece of our grate room, however it is not all that good at warming up the house. (yes it drafts lots of air out of our home). I wanted to get an insert or something for it to improve its heating efficiency, but my wife insists on having an open fireplace, she likes the sound of the popping pitch pockets, and the smell of a wood fire lightly wafting into the house.
While looking for an insert I ran into this youtube clip: [...] I really liked the inserts this place hastyheat.com custom fits, but I could not talk my wife into a set of glass doors. Facing the fact that I would not win at closing off the fireplace to reduce the draft it pulls into the house, I did the next best thing. After discussing my options with Brent at Hasty Heat, I ordered a custom fitted fireplace grate heater, that they carefully arched in a double row of tubes to fit my hearth. If you want to see the quality of their work, I have a photo album of our hearth posted at [...] We could not be happier, our home is kept significantly warmer despite the draft of the hearth, I am burning about 1/3 less wood and finding a greater level of comfort throughout my home. So in summary, yes a open fireplace drafts cold air into the home (so do leaky windows and door jambs). For those who do not want to destroy the elegance, nor permanently alter their fireplace hearths; fireplace grate heaters are a very good option to try. Ours can raise our great room from 60F to 70F in 1/2 hour, We have had to open windows and doors until we learned how to build more sane sized fires in this thing. We have gotten our great room into triple digits on more than one occasion. We are very happy with the collaboration and custom fitting done for us by hastyheat.com and can heartily recommend them for anyone who is interested in keeping warmer (unless you prefer to take the arm chair opinions of the naysayers that abound on the internet.) Dear Mr. Hasty, We have been using your "Heatalator" now for about 30 days and I want to tell everyone exactly what I think about your product and of course you (the owner) I want to let everyone know just how happy my wife and I are...we did ponder and asked many questions of you about having it built a special way to fit our firebox. We gave you the measurements and finally ordered after burning up two cords of wood before putting in the order. What a waste of money! You should have told me how much it could save me in the long run plus how much easier it is using your unit. We both wish we would have ordered this sooner...It has decreased our wood consumption by almost 40% and heats our home perfectly. We ordered the two blower system and am so happy with it but most of all it is the quality of everything, from the bending of the tubes down to the welding.... One Item that my wife raves about is what you call the "Ash Tray;" (Before I had to clean the fireplace out because of the hassle)....but now and I hope she doesn't read this----she doesn't mind doing it at all. She comments on how easy it is to clean and how much time it saves from the old way of cleaning out the mess in our fireplace. You have no idea how nice it is to be able to pick up the "Ash Tray" from your unit and walk out to the ash can and dump it. Before as I am sure most of us know the mess it makes from start to finish. Putting down newspapers so you don't get any of the ashes on the carpet or floor and praying that there weren't any hot coals left that ignited the newspaper that you had put down to catch all the mess from shoveling and sweeping the ashes out. Hoping that you didn't drop any of them and then having to dust after each cleaning! What a mess it was then! Then I would like to tell everyone about how it was shipped...it was packaged great and arrived sooner than I thought it would. It had all the required directions and explained everything perfectly, even I had no problem putting the few pieces together if that's what you want to call it because you had done all the work for me. I have never given anyone a higher rating of 9 because I am the type of person that believes there is always room for improvement! I have to admit though that this time that you and your company, using the rating of 1 through 10 and 10 being the highest, I will give you and your company a strong 10 in communication, also a 10 in quality, and a 10 in shipping and then a 10 for an item that truly does what the consumer expects!
