5.0 out of 5 stars VERY SATISFYING. BUY THIS GAME!
This game is a blast. It is constructed in such a way that you never get bored. Every time you shoot an enemy vehicle, you are rewarded with a fiery explosion. Especially with the bosses. This game is a blast. It is constructed in such a way that you never get bored. Every time you shoot an enemy vehicle, you are rewarded with a fiery explosion. Especially with the bosses. You defeat a boss, and you shout in triumph as you watch him go up in flames. The music is awsome as well. There have been many times where I've just paused the game on a level so I could just listen to the music. It's the kind of music that makes you feel powerful. It makes you want to destroy. And believe me, there is plenty to destroy(as well as enemies that have that same thing on their minds). The game has six levels total, each level taking approximately five minutes each to complete. I know what you're thinking. Oh, this game isn't for me, it's too short, too easy. Let me tell you brother, despite the game's short number of levels, YOU WILL NOT COMPLETE IT UNDER THE FIRST FIVE HOURS. Buy it just to prove me wrong, but be prepared to be destroyed, many times. I owned the game two years before completing it.Oh, and lets not forget to talk about your arsenal, you start the game equiped with a machine gun and a flame thrower. As you progress, you pick up more and more weapons, which you can use at a whim. at your most powerful, you can have bullets(machine gun), flamethrower, plasma, laser, and the powerful Ionic weapon. But that's not all, oh no. That's only the primary weapon. Your second arsenal includes heat seeking missles, rockets, the destructive ring of fire, and at the end of the game, the super bomb. Usually, you have time to say OH NO!, before you are totally vaporized by an incoming missle. You will not regret it, should you decide to buy it. It's a blast. I have games such as Jedi Outcast, and yet, I always find myself playing Firepower 2000, sooner or later.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Game For the SNES, August 1, 2005

I don't know why I am writing a review for this game now, after playing it for 13 years. I guess I am compelled to do so because I still play it, and I never get tired of it.

You control either a jeep or a helicopter (I always use the helicopter...not sure why, I just like it better), and pretty much just obliterate everything in your path. You face all sorts of weaponry, ground cannons, tanks, and different planes and helicopters. You start out with minimal firepower, but in an unlimited supply. You boost your power by blowing up crates containing rockets, plasma guns, flames, lasers, and Ion power. If you collect them all, you can toggle between the different weapons, some work better than others. You also pick up some special weapons that run out eventually if you use them all up.

The graphics in this game are out of this world, as well as the music and sound effects. I am not sure why this game wasn't more popular enough to make sequels.

If you don't lose any guys and continue to build up your firepower, the heavier your enemies will attack. When you lose a guy, you lose some of your firepower. That's when things get more difficult. I made it all the way to the end of the 3rd stage on one guy, and man it got hard. The bosses at the end of each stage really aren't "bosses". They are just enemy strongholds that have weak points. But you have to dodge a lot of fire coming at you while trying to take it down.

This is the way games should be. Simple, mindless fun, and different each time, based on how well you do. I like to challenge myself to see how far I can get on one guy. One little thing I like to do to when starting a new game is choose a two-player game, and let the jeep roll along on the ground, and protect him as long as I can, but only until I pick up all the power-ups. You get double the power-ups since there are two players on the screen.

This is a really fun game for a system that I still play each day. I'd have to say either this game or Super Mario Kart are the best games for the SNES. If you are a fan of shoot-em-ups, and can find a copy of this game anywhere, definitely buy it, you will enjoy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars FIREPOWER ROCKS, August 8, 2002

Firepower is the best. It's a great game where you can be a tank or a helicopter, or have a friend join you. You destroy other airplanes, tanks, and blow up boxes for power ups. THe firepower is super! But dont get frustrated when the bosses blow up your tanks. THe bosses are hard, i've only gotten up to level 4. THIS GAME NEVER, EVER GETS BORING!!!
