5.0 out of 5 stars Pillar is better than P.O.D - Yet Pillar is far less known
Pillar freakin rocks. This is the best CD i've ever purchased. I'm not one to listen to a lot of christian music, but this band is awesome. This Cd has 12 awesome tracks that will blow you away. It is evident that Pillar spent the time to make each song as good as the one before it. These guys are way better than P.O.D., yet I never have heard about these guys anywhere...

2.0 out of 5 stars Too Copycat!
The CD was ok but it sounded a little too much like P.O.D. for my taste. It's not very original but it is somewhat fun to listen to. I don't regret buying the albumn but there is better out there.

One day I was just messin around on Bestbuy.com and i stumbled cross this band and Cd. The song "fireproof" on this cd is one of the best songs of all time. Who cares if P.O.D is more popluar, Pillar is better. I was looking on MTV.com and Pillar isn't even on the bands list, which have thousnads of bands on it. This is the most underrated and underpublicized band ever, and its also one of the best.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Christian album in my collection!, July 24, 2002
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Fireproof (Audio CD)
I listen to secular music as much to the next person, but my dad takes me to Berean Christian bookstore, to occasionally find good alternatives to some of the more explicit lyrics sec music. I was in the store and there was a big thing for Pillar: Fireproof with a listening booth to hear the album. The cover looked cool so I put the headphones and I begged my dad to get it for me. He got it for me and he loved it! All you people who don't like Pillar because they sound too "comersh" (commercial), you listen to many music critics. This is a great album! I love all the grungy guitars and dark melodies. This CD is great. Yesterday, me and my dad bought Project 86's "Drawing Black Lines" and Pillar's CD puts P86's CD to shame! Altough I enjoy "Drawing Black Lines", this album was just what I needed to satisfy my metal flavor. I recommend this CD to all hardcore Christians! Put down that Limp Bizkit and get a little God into your soul. Pillar sounds alot like Linkin Park and Silverchair. Their songs have really great messages and have great rhymes! This CD is a great buy. I don't really like Pillar's first album because it sounds, well not great. Plus, all you Linkin Park fans and Pillar fans out there check out the new Linkin Park album it's coming out on the 30th, (I don't think there are any explicit lyrics on it, so that will be a great buy!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, they're getting the attention they've deserved!, April 25, 2003

If you've only heard "fireproof," the first single then you're missing out on the rest of this amazing cd. Fireproof is a great song but everything else on the CD is better! It's about time this amazing band got the attention they deserve. Its great to finally see hard rock with a positive message of living with a purpose and a love for life. If you have any doubt about whether or not to buy this CD, just do it. The Pillar sound is powerful and addictive. I saw them in concert a few months ago and they were even better live. If you're tired of hearing disturbed and disturbing lyrics, look to something that has great music and a great message! Rock out to Pillar without having to worry about cencorship. Look what God is doing for the Christian artists!

God has truly blessed these men with the power to rock the world. Pillar sets melodies that are so quick to get crunched into your head. You cannot deny the power they serve up on the title track "Fireproof", as well as the new Christian radio smash hit "Echelon" (Personal favorite). Limp Bizkit has got nothing on these guys, they are so full of energy and passion for Christ. Do not dismiss them as a Christian band and therefore, cannot be good. I've seen them live 3 times, and even after line-up changes, they can still take over. Buy, buy, buy, and go by Above while you're at it. Live for Him!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Christian Metal CD Ever made, December 21, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Fireproof (Audio CD)
Pillar has definetly set the standard for Christian Metal Bands with this album. Alot of Secular bands couldn't hold a flame to these guys. Every song on the album is a masterpiece with a message of life in every song. You will be blown away!

Pillar's mainstream debut, Fireproof, has turned out to be one of the best rock albums ever. I recommend seeing them live as well.

Just awesome!

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Rock CD, April 17, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Fireproof (Audio CD)
This is an outstanding release from a amazing rock band. If you like the hard/rock, alternative/rock genre, then this CD is definitely for you. Every track is great. Some songs will amaze you beyond belief. The first time I heard "Echelon," "Indivisible," "A Shame," and "Fireproof" -- I couldn't believe how good they were. These guys came out with this version of this CD in 2002, and they impressed MCA records (now Geffen) so much so that MCA released this CD in June of 2003 in a remixed and remastered form. I have both versions, and I like the remixed version better. But I still love the original intro to "Echelon" on this release, which was cut out on the new mix. But for the most part, Echelon is better on the remixed version. The guitars are much more clean and crisp in the new mix. Another song that is a lot better on the MCA release is "Just to Get By." They added a sweet guitar riff in there that makes the song even better. So although this release is still outstanding, I would recommend buying the MCA release over this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars the perfect album, June 21, 2003

this cd blew me away. i didn't think it was possible, but it's even better than the original fireproof cd from last year - completely flawless! a lot of the songs are really juiced up, but some sound so different. "a shame" is almost a different song altogether, and it's better than before. i love the new effects for "behind closed doors" and "hindsight". there are even 2 remixes of "fireproof" on this cd. and the dvd is incredible. you need to buy this.

5.0 out of 5 stars How Can You NOT Like It?, August 23, 2002
By
Alissa (Minneapolis, MN USA) - See all my reviews

I bought this cd having only heard the first song on it, Fireproof. Everything about that song amazed me, so i just had to have the cd. I popped it into my cd player and i haven't been able to take it out. Every song is heartfelt but not wimpy. This is something to jam to, but the lyrics are also wise. I do agree with the other people, some songs do sound quite a bit like P.O.D., but Pillar's sound over-powers any doubt you have. Buy this cd if you like hard rock. Buy this cd even if you don't. It's Just That Good. And if you think this cd [disappoints], I'm sorry, but you are wrong.

5.0 out of 5 stars Big Sound, Killer Hooks, and Heavy Guitars, June 24, 2002

Its hard to say enough about this CD. Its just what Christian music needs. If you are a POD fan, check these guys out. They're message is more outspoken than POD's and that's the only reason you won't hear them on mainstream radio. If you like Limp Biscuit and are looking for a Godly alternative, this could be it. Fireproof is by far my favorite song just because it sticks in my head, but Ashamed is also one that sticks. I saw these guys live once and they are great on stage. Rob's voice sounds great live too. Buy this CD and give bands like this the support they need to keep going!
