Spiritual Philosophy At Its Best,
This review is from: Fireside (Paperback)
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to spend a quiet evening sitting around talking with Mary Summer Rain? Then read Fireside. Fireside is spiritual philosophy for the common person. No big words, no fancy concepts, no esoteric teachings, just the simple Truth; a Truth that Mary has ever strived to bring to all her readers. In this book Mary and her friend Sally spend a quiet autumn evening discussing a number of concepts, including wisdom, personal responsibility, and meditation; then challenge the reader to think and discover for him or herself. Too many spiritual books want to spoonfeed us all authors' answers. Mary insists that we learn to think for ourselves. Very refreshing and well worth the investment of time and energy to read (and re-read) it.

simple housewife,

I have read all of Mary Summer Rains books and love every single one of them. Fireside Ifound was as always a most informative piece of art which has given me much insight into my own spritual development. The meditation section was extremly helpful and answered questions for me that I had not yet been able to answer for myself. The two friends spending the night together just having normal girls talk actually made one feel like they were there to, in the candle lit cabin just quietly listening to the conversation at hand. Her friend Sally had to enlighten her about certain issues concerning Goverment involvements, that if she published this information the men in black would want to cart her off to be interragated. The pure innosence of this revelation just goes to show one that Summer Rain is just a jewel. A wonderful loving messenger we have amongst us at this time and a teacher to us worldwide. I will continue to read all of Summer Rains books as I know there will always be something new in there for me to learn. Thankyou Summer.

Extraordinary writings of thinking... things that will make you contemplate. Quantum physics in a conversational mode between friends... just chatting... definitely a snuggle up by the fire and read.

Some sections were a chore to read, but still worthwhile.,
This review is from: Fireside (Paperback)
At times the conversation between the two friends seemed to get bogged down in semantics. Other times it read like a lecture. However the discussions still give one food for thought. While the author still has the talent for making the reader "feel" as if they are "there", the tone of the book is different from her previous work.

Not very interesting.,

Mary Summer Rain has written some excellent books but in my opinion Fireside is not one of them. There is very little content in the rambling essay. There is too much about her dogs and cats laying around and playing. Perhaps someone else will find more in the book than I did. I would HIGHLY recommed "Spirit Song", "Phoenix Rising" and "Earthway" but not "Fireside".

Sitting around the fire with Mary and Sally...,
This review is from: Fireside (Kindle Edition)
Mary has a way of inviting you into her living room to sit comfortably in front of the fire as her guest, to enjoy the conversation as it flows between her and her long-time companion, Sally. The fireside chat ebs and flows and topics are discussed in fine detail, as only Mary can entwine the words to entice the reader into forgetting all but the capsule she has created in the their conversation.Every day life as we all experience comes to life as they discuss things common to us all, bills to pay, challenges, pets and things not so common, such as "quantum conundrums" unraveled by physicists... and the exciting revelations of change with coming of the Shekinah... the feminine energies permeating our world today to bring about those long-awaited changes. I am simply thrilled that Mary has chosen to bring "Fireside" into the world of electronic books so that many new readers can enjoy and learn from this classic work. It is a treasure!

Intimate fireside chat with a friend,

I am thrilled that Mary Summer Rain's books are now becoming available on Kindle! I cherish all my books from this author but have put off buying a Kindle because many of my favorite books on spiritual wisdom have not been available in that format. I have been a Mary summer Rain fan for many years, looking forward to each new book, she has been a major part of my life and spiritual search. Fireside has the beautiful feeling of being right in a room with Mary Summer Rain as a friend and having a long evening discussion on matters of heart, mind and spirit combined. She helps us open our hearts, minds and souls to see where we are in our search for truth in the way a warm, trusting friend would, and that is how I see her. The words thank you cannot convey what is in my heart for this spirit sister and her work she has touched so many with. Now, more than ever, a wonderfuil book for wherever you may be on your path for spiritual truth.

sister lisa pea,

One of Mary Summer Rain's first forays into straight-up all-you-can-eat Spiritual Philosophy (well, almost! There's plenty of personal anecdotes here for those who need 'em). "Fireside" conveys elegant spiritual theories based soundly on Summer Rain's deep, transcendent, heart-full & heart-wounding life experiences.

Fireside,
This review is from: Fireside (Kindle Edition)
I love this book. The way it is written as a conversation between Mary Summer Rain and her friend, Sally, allows you to be a part of their back and forth questions and reflections on subjects like personally held beliefs, ego, meditation, personal power and always this underlying existence of serenity. You can reflect on the questions and thoughts that are presented and see how these play out in your life and what may be driving away the serenity that can seem so elusive. I read this book more than a couple of times over the years. Revisiting Fireside is helping me to see what I have forgotten and reminding me of personal work that I need to keep conscious.
