Reading the review above is not exactly going to give an accurate picture of this awesome candle. First, as with most candles, the wick needs to be trimmed to a length somewhere between 1/8 and 1/4 of an inch. I usually keep it trimmed to about 1/4 and have never experienced a smoking problem, nor a high flame problem. Not sure about the wax sloshing issue -- I don't make a habit of picking up lighted candles.

This candle (not this particular scent, however) was a gift from a friend, and is absolutely our new favorite kind of candle. The scents are strong enough to fill up about 1600 sq. feet, but not so strong that it seems overpowering. The wood wick truly does crackle as if you have a small fire going, so it's great for people that live in a part of the country where it just won't get cold enough to have a fire in the fireplace.

I **highly** recommend this candle. I'm giving one to everyone I know for Christmas this year.

This is such an interesting concept for a candle! The real wood wick makes small crackling noises like a real fire. The vanilla bean fragrance spreads quickly but isn't overwhelming. My only warning is to take the instructions seriously: make sure you have 3-4 hours to burn this candle each time. On my second use, I blew it out after an hour and it was very difficult to get started the next time. The wick would just fizzle out after a couple of minutes. If you run into this problem, scrape a little of the wax away from around the wick and be persistent. It'll come back to life.

This is the coolest candle I've ever seen. It really does smell like a fireplace. After I've used it, left the house and come back, it still has a little smell as though we really do have a fireplace. The wood wick is really cool because it makes the flame wider, and it really does crackle like a fire (but it's not super loud so it won't be annoying). This candle would make a great gift for a guy to!

When I received my order of two WW Fireside candles (one for me and one for a gift), I noticed that the wick on the candle that I received is a "new plus design!". Instead of it being a straight wick, as pictured, it is two smaller wood wicks, crossing each each perpendicularly to create a plus sign. I thought, "Well, this should be okay," but it's not. This candle does not burn the same as the straight wick candles I've had from WW. Why misrepresent what you are sending in the photo? I hate when this happens on Amazon. It doesn't say anything in the description either.

I would buy WoodWick again, but not this design. It burns poorly, super poorly....and that was the attraction of the previous straight candle wicks I've gotten.

I bought this candle this afternoon and am already in love with it. The crackling of the wick is quiet enough that it doesn't bother me when I'm reading, but noticeable enough to be soothing. But crackling wick aside, the scent of this candle is the biggest reason you should go out and buy one now. It has been burning for a couple hours and the scent has filled my entire apartment... it's not too strong, but has a subtle scent that is truly amazing.

This item is exactly as described. The crackling sound is soothing and fun. It is also a very clean burning candle- despite the wood wick. I was delighted at how long it lasted! It burned all the way down to the bottom with no problems. It's so easy too to trim the wick- you can gently break it off with your finger to keep the length correct. And the fragrance is wonderful too- and it quickly fills the room. This particular fragrance is very nice and is kind of citrusy-forresty hearth like quality.

Overall one of the BEST PURCHASES I'VE EVER MADE. I will be buying the bigger one this time. :)

This is a great candle. Really the strongest smelling one I have and I have alot of candles. I got this as a Xmas gift and it's number for me. It burns clean and slow, just like it says. I have the Cinnamin Chai and I just love it. Just went on line and ordered three more...This is going to be my new favorite candle company...pricy but worth every penny. Sorry Yankee Candle...Yankee's are out Wood Wicks are in!

I just bought my second fireside scented candle. I love everything about it. Although it is a little expensive, it burns much longer than ones you pay less for. The smell also spreads around the whole room and is fantastic. I can't comment about the new plus wick, but I love the straight version. I also find the noise very soothing. It doesn't always crackle like a fire, but it does always make noise.

I love the smell of these candles as well as the sound they make while burning, but they make 20 times the soot of regular candles.

I received this candle for Christmas and at first I really loved it. The smell is wonderful and the shape of the jar is contemporary and beautiful. The wax is of good quality, it liquifies quickly, but the smoke is awful! I trimmed it to 1/8th inch as directed and it still smoked like a chimney. I tried it again the next night, hoping it would smoke less. It was worse. The third night it set off my smoke alarm! And this was after trimming the wick per the instructions. I will save it and use it outside during the summer months, but I refuse to light it in the house again. I would not recommend this candle for indoor use!
