For the thinness of the metal, it is surprisingly strong.

For my application, I mounted it on the driver side fender, just under the hood. I had to actually cut a bit off of the end to bring the antenna a little closer to the body and drill a new hole in the mount and fender.. I ate up 4 drill bits trying to make that hole until I finally got a black oxide bit. Like I said, they use some quality steel in this thing. Just be sure that wherever you attach it, the metal is strong enough for the strain. The steel in this mount is way stronger than the flimsy sheet metal used for the factory fender of a Jeep Wrangler.

I had two issues..
1. Unrelated to the mount itself, was that where I put the antenna (on the front fender), it got a little more wind than I'd like when using a 4 ft antenna on the highway. I eventually got a TJ Tail Light mount for the rear and moved my antenna there.
2. Having the single hole sacrifices a little bit on the stability of the mount (hence the 4 stars instead of 5). However, if your mount location allows you to make a second hole for a second bolt, you'll be very pleased.

All in all, it's a sturdy and affordable mount that frees up a lot of options.

On a side note, I had a pillar mount light bracket with no light.. I found that this mount was perfect to attach there, except a 4' antenna sticks a weee bit too high there. If you had a 3' antenna and wished you could get it a good foot above the roof line, this would be a perfect location and mount for that.

Despite the sticker proudly proclaiming pittsburg steel, this is made of cheap metal that WILL crack after time from so much flexing. having a CB antenna means that antenna is going to flop around some, this is a huge amount of leverage and in my case, even after adding a second hole and bolt, thus shortening the amount that flexes, it STILL moves up and down about 1/4 inch in either direction. That's bad.

This mount is solid and well made. It didn't work for my application, but is still a quality it. Buy it if you need it.

Good sturdy mount for the firestik antennas. The mount was priced just a little more than the SO fitting by itself.

Just got the mount in the mail and i probably would of been better off buying a piece of Stainless flat bar and milling it myself..Seems ok but it should be twice as thick...Its going on the back of my jeep on the Spare tire holder so i think i can get away with it cause there wont be so much wind drag on it...I still like it for the money

Simple piece of equipment to make, so the price is debatable but had no problems. Had dual whips and the mounts were both attached at either end of my toolbox on my truck. I would suggest for everyone to buy a heavy duty spring aswell, especially if your going to be traveling the highway a good bit.

Bought this for a 102" whip and works great. Though they say this is only for a 4 foot antenna it works great for the 102. Gone down the interstate going 70 and doesn't move. Highly recommend!!
