If you haven't read any of Ann Jacobs books, you're missing a real treat. This is the 4th story in the Black Gold series and one of the best. The romance between Jake and Kate is great and the suspense is also pretty good. I highly recommend this book and the rest of the series. You don't have to read them in order but it helps. Go to Ann Jacobs website to get the correct reading order.

Ann Jacobs books are fantastic! In this one, Jake & Kate make the Firestorm together. Jake was betrayed and devastated by his ex-wife, never again will love be an option for Jake. His heart is sealed in steel towards any woman ever again. Being a small town, country girl & virgin, Kate starts to have these feelings when she sees Jake and yearns for his touch. In the heat of the moment when Jake strikes oil on her land, he rushes to share the joy with her and gets caught up in the kiss they share. From there they experience great sex and many nights together where Kate is falling in Love. Danger develops again, when a fire is started in Kate's barn by the arsonist, where he ends up attacking her in the woods behind her home. Jake rushes to find Kate surrounded by flames and left to die in the woods. Jake rescues Kate and wants to protect her. They end up taking a trip so he can protect her and she meets his family since his father falls ill. Kate is ushered into Jake's wealthy way of life. Will she give up her small, county living to try and make a life with Jake? Will Jake give up his working directly in the oil field to make his family happy and return to the high rises in Houston to run the family Oil Company? You've got to read this book to see if Jake and Kate fall in Love and see if they live in Houston or Mississippi!
