5.0 out of 5 stars Tvangeste, December 3, 2004

This review is from: Firestorm (Audio CD)
I still don't know how to pronounce the bandname, but I can define their work; excellent! The guitar and drum work are excellent, the symphonic element adds grandeur and power, dominating and crushing weakness in today's black metal scene. The atheistic lyrics are intelligently written, but the extreme vocals are dry heaving, while still good, need work.

The Intro and 'Under The Black Raven's Wings' track leads and violates, eventually leading into elevating madness. "Birth of the Hero" is an anthem to evil, "Fire In Our Hearts" and "Godless Freedom" are mesmerizing. "Storm" intrigues and opens eyes with psychotic themes, and "Tears" closes the opus with majesty and honor.

This album is comparable in sound to Dimmu Borgir's "Puritannical Euphoric Misanthropia" and Arcturus' "La Masquerade Infernale", but with more captivating song structures and more operatic themes.

An album for any avant-garde black metal fan! Brilliant from start to finish!

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply amazing!, August 21, 2009

This is their second album, and it does vary quite a bit from the first, although they are both great. Here you can see how they have really kicked it up a notch in all areas. This features some incredible orchestrations, but where this differers from a band like Haggard for instance who also utilize a lot of orchestral elements, is that Tvangeste seamlessly integrates all of these incredible orchestral arrangement directly within their songs. This is also backed up by very good male and female choruses combined with black metal shrieks. You will also find a violin solo, flute solo, but no filler material here! Everything here is so refined and the songwriting top notch. Absolutely cannot recommend this band enough, and we can only hope to see a new album from them soon!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Black Metal Out There., June 20, 2008
This review is from: Firestorm (Audio CD)
If you like double bass that sounds like it's hammering your chest, but still having it not all be straight forward 8th notes and have the double bass mixed up, great choice.

If you love female operatic vocals and vocals that sound like a old old demon that's been trapped in an abyss for it's entire life, great choice.

And great great great classical influences.

But unless you want the hard copy don't buy it. Get it free on their website as a zip file.

GET THIS ONE WAY OR ANOTHER!
