Only product you need!,

This review is from: Firewire 800 9-6 Adapter Rohs (Personal Computers)
I had an older digital video camera with a firewire 400 cable. Just bought new Macbook Pro, which only has firewire 800 input. Did some research & I first bought a cable that stated it went from 800 to 400. It did, but both ends were male. Had to return it.
Went to local electronics stores & they were not helpful. Most didn't even know this product existed & they tried to sell me other cables for 20 bucks each! This $8 adapter is ALL you need to go from 400 firewire device into 800 port. Don't let anyone sell you anything else. Just transferred hours of video & it worked great!

The new aluminum iMacs come with a single firewire 400 port and a firewire 800 port. Unfortunately, there's still very little firewire 800 hardware out there, and some of us have a bunch of firewire 400 devices. This adapter works perfectly (at least it has so far) and allows me to now have two reliable firewire 400 connections on the iMac. It should come in the box with every iMac.
