I just recently started using the Firm Basics videos. I've tried to use workout videos before and have quickly lost interest in them. All three of the Firm Basics videos are great, but this one is my favorite. It's easy to follow and fun to do. Oh, and I started seeing a difference in my body shape after my 2-3 Firm Basic workout. I saw big difference after 10 workouts. And at the end of one month I'd lost two sizes. I'd recommend this and any of the other Firm Basic videos for anyone who want to start getting back into shape.

Great for Starters,

I have been totally out of shape for about 4 years and I just started again and am using the Firms basic series and for a beginner its great. I found the instructions not too difficult to follow and the motivational talk at the end of the tape great. While it may not be the best tape for an advadced user, I find it to be a challenge and am always proud when I finish. I can feel the results already and it has been only a about 2 weeks. I would highly suggest these tapes to some one trying to start working out, and I enjoy this tape the best it really makes your problem areas work hard.

This is an excelent tape Stacey Millner-Collins does an excelent job of keeping you motivated. the Tape is over before you even realize it. It is very good for beginners or if you want to exercise a little lighter some days. To make it tougher just add weights.

I love The Firm, but this tape has some problems,

While I love The Firm, and the exercises are extremely effective, this particular tape has three problems. The instructor doesn't give ample warning of position changes, she loses count of reps and worst of all in the low impact aerobic section she is not in time to the music. All in all the exercises work fine, but those three drawbacks make it a bit jerky trying to keep with her. You have to ignore her timing completely in the aerobic section and watch the other exercisers on the tape (who are also ignoring her and working in time to the music) This is the only tape I've seen her have these problems on. Your best bet is to rent it first before you buy to be sure these factors aren't as bothersome to you as they were to me. Tracie Long is the best Firm instructor and I recommend her workouts to any others.

This is a great aerobics workout! I started this with no previous experience and I now do it every morning. Excellent for shaping the legs. Haven't noticed much of a workout for the buns though. I would go someplace else for that. Lori

I've used this video and noticed significant changes in my body. I lower body gets an excellent workout. If I don't do it, I find that my muscles feel it. It's a great workout, so much so that I've got my sister one. She calls me and shares how much it burns and how happy she is with the results.

Disappointed, but still a Firm Believer,

I consider myself an intermediate exerciser, but this tape I would recommend only for first-timers/beginners. For the reviewer from Canada who remarked the tape is over before you know it, that's because it is a rather short workout, and very easy. I hadn't even broken a sweat yet, and the instructor was already into the final stretch! The music is uninspiring, and the workout choppy, meaning you only do a few repetitions of one move before quickly moving onto the next, and so on.... This video I would skip, and spend your money more wisely on The Firm classic workout series.

After giving birth to my second child, I thought I would never be able to be firm again. I bought this tape 2-1/2 months ago and have used it every other day. Not only do I have alot more energy but I can feel a big difference in my hips, thighs and buns! This is a great workout...lots of fun, with results!

I am overweight and just started exercising a few months ago. I started off with Leslie Sansone walking videos, and now I have been combining those with some Tae-Bo, and this Firm Basics tape.
The 80's clothing and music, along with the monotone voice of the instructor is a little odd, and can be awkward at first. Some of the fitness vocabulary was also intimidating and confusing at first. I recommend watching the tape once through, just trying it but knowing that you might not get all the moves the first time. It takes a little bit of coordination, but is fine for someone who is just starting off. You will need a broom handle, a stepping stool, and some hand weights. I have to say that I do find the work out very effective. I appreciate that there is stretching through out the tape, not just at the end and the beginning. Not one moment is wasted. I use this when I want to use weights, focus, and work hard. It really makes your body feel good, and Ive only done the tape 6 times and I can see results through out my body. I look forward to doing this tape because I know how effective it is. Its a good method because you know it will work. They also include a lot of valuable information at the end of the tape, about muscles and weights and fitness termonology that has really motivated me and educated me as a beginner. Some other FIRM workouts also have the 80's music and the people in strange clothing, and the instructor shows no joy or changes in her voice. If you can get past that, I think its really a great work out. Ive seen the FIRM series do great things for people, and it has helped them look and feel a lot younger than they really are. So give it a try. If you you are looking for something a little different and more focused, this would be good for you. The instructors voice doesnt change a whole lot, but they do give you a lot of information about muscles you are working, technique, and pacing. I thought that was good. This will help you build lean muscle and will help you with your balance and flexibility as well. I gave it a four because of the awkwardness of the first time doing the tape. Other than that, I recommend it.

I've been doing the Firm Basics workout for near twenty days now, and I already am noticing the bulging muscle in my lower legs. I've gained muscel mass and I'm feeling great!
