5.0 out of 5 stars A great addition to your Firm collection
I got this video because I realized that the majority of my Firm videos were what they refer to as "Tortoise" which means a lot of weight work and little cardio work. This video is entirely cardio work, about 30-40 min of it, plus short warmup and cooldown sections. I would say that this is good for those like me who aren't great at doing complicated...

3.0 out of 5 stars Rehash of jumping around sections of better Firm workouts
There is no new material in this video--it's a compilation of sections--and not the best sections-- from other Firm workouts. It does provide a solid cardio workout, but little strength training. This workout could certainly hold its own compared to aerobics videos from other studios, but it's definitely not The Firm's best.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great addition to your Firm collection, May 22, 2000
This review is from: Firm Parts: Tough Aerobic Mix [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I got this video because I realized that the majority of my Firm videos were what they refer to as "Tortoise" which means a lot of weight work and little cardio work. This video is entirely cardio work, about 30-40 min of it, plus short warmup and cooldown sections. I would say that this is good for those like me who aren't great at doing complicated footwork, but want to get aerobic effects. You will need a short aerobic step for some of the workouts on this tape. This tape was compiled from original Firm videos and each segments is introduced by "your personal fitness trainer." This is a great video for cardio fitness. I would say some of the workouts were higher impact than others, so beware if you are bothered by jumps.

4.0 out of 5 stars A cut and paste job -and not necessarily tough, December 4, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Firm Parts: Tough Aerobic Mix [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have been a Firm believer for over ten years (from back in the days when their tapes were $50 each!) and have 8 of their videos...and I am thrilled that there are so many tapes to choose from now. This particular tape, however, is an example of oversaturation and the title is misleading. The name of the tape ("Tough Aerobic Mix") implies an intermediate to advanced level of difficulty. The only thing that makes this tape tough is the choice of weight poundage and could certainly be used by all levels of exercisers. While there is a new instructor on the cover and she introduces each segment, that's where it stops - this tape is a straight "cut and paste" of portions of The Firm Tapes 1,2,3,4, and 6. I rated this 4 stars because I enjoyed all the tapes that the clips were pulled from, but I feel a little cheated - and misled - that they just slapped a new name and title on the cover as though this was an original product. If you have used The Firm tapes extensively before, just recognize that this tape is simply a collection of various segments off older tapes...and is not particularly tough as the name implies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Challenge yourself, see results, August 2, 2002
This review is from: Firm Parts: Tough Aerobic Mix [VHS] (VHS Tape)
A compilation of exercise segments from 6 Firm volumes, Tough Aerobic Mix will definitely give you a strong workout. I love it ! The instructors are no-nonsense ladies who barely break a smile and who move you from upper body toning and low-impact aerobics to hi-impact aerobics and lower body strengthening. I have no problem with "dated" 80's aerobics. Exercise is exercise, and I like to feel my heart race. Also, this video includes alot of the upper body toning that I never do enough of. This is my only FIRM video, but if I get another I'll try to find a compilation again.

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS VIDEO IS GREAT!, October 27, 2001

I just wanted to let everyone who was thinking of getting this video that it is a must! This video is challenging if you make it.... I like to up the intensity with harder weights (8-12 lbs) on certain activities, and if you really get into it, it is great! this was my first FIRM video that I ever bought, and it is still one of the hardest! if you don't do it for a while, then come back to it, it kicks your butt! This video is shorter, but it has alot of different instructors to go along with. My favorite is Janet-Jones_Gretzky ...and I really like Susan Harris as well.. this is a great vid!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent workout, August 8, 2000

This has been my very first Firm video and it has made me a Firm Believer. The instructors are great and it is a mixed impact (aerobics as well as strength training) type of workout. This tape is definitely tough and beginners should excercise caution. This workout requires a step box and some free weights.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST BEST !, April 7, 2002

This review is from: Firm Parts: Tough Aerobic Mix [VHS] (VHS Tape)
THIS WAS MY FIRST FIRM IN 95! i have been hooked ever since. TAM lets you see some of the best parts of the CLASSIC series, and it is TOUGH! That is no lie!~
I used to use 8lb weights but now I use 15lb weights.
This workout is very adaptable, adding heavy weights makes it extra tough! I don't do it much anymore because I have Super Cardio, but if I want my [rear] kicked I will do this one!...it is the best investment ever!
This is a PARTS video- from volume one, two, three, four and six.
After I had this video for some time, I felt like I had to buy ALL six total body volumes, and that is exactly what I did..
now i have 30 FIRMS!!...they are fabulous, just try them, they will do wonders for your bod body!

4.0 out of 5 stars Yes, It IS tough!, May 11, 2000
This review is from: Firm Parts: Tough Aerobic Mix [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The Firm series is honestly the best. I've tried several aerobics tapes -- some are tough and some are fun and some are impossible. This one is tough in the best way -- you can make it even tougher and they tell you how. I still can't get all the way through this 45-minute workout without stopping. It's pretty difficult. Just learning it was hard -- which is GOOD, really; My coordination is improving. This video isn't for quitters, but then no aerobics tape is. Go for it!

This is a hard workout and you will sweat when you do this one! It is definitely not for beginners, though. My favorite part of this one is the hyper-extension of the legs to work the butt! Finally something other than squats! And you will definitely feel it in your glutes! I've lost 17 pounds so far and I'm still going! The only bad thing I can say about this video is that the instructors don't give alot of verbal cues before changing exercises, although once you have the routine down, it's not a problem. This is the best video I've found so far for total conditioning. Good luck, everyone!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not So Tough, August 1, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Firm Parts: Tough Aerobic Mix [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This may be titled tough aerobics but I think the not so tough aerobics is tougher-this one is just longer. I love the Firm workout vidoeos as I own 12 and just ordered 4 more. This tape is great if you need more aerobics or you don't have the full hour to do a total body tape:)
