Tired of boring and bland spanish tools? This book is bursting with vivid, whimsical, illustrations depicting everyday life with humor and clarity that will attract even beginning adult students. The apealing story type pictures not only define spanish words, but they also promote spanish interaction between reader and child or student with student. On "la cocina" page, a father washes dises amidst a swirling pandemonium of dropping dishes, spilt juice, and a todler with a pot on his head. A teacher or parent could easily springboard off of this illustration to begin to form whole sentences based on the action in the picture.
This intriguing book is sure to be a winner with you and children alike.

As a second grade teacher who teaches Spanish to his students, this book was a big help as well as an excellent resource for the kids. It was an often used resource and invaluable when it came to helping the kids who were having a more difficult time learning the vocabulary and the simple conversation pieces.

There are pictures with the corresponding Spanish definition but the literal English translation is not included. I find this to be a bit challenging for some of the items as there can be multiple English words referring to a single object and without the exact English translation you aren't sure. For example, there is a picture of a 3 drawer dresser defined as comoda. In English this could be nightstand, dresser, bureau... Also some of the pictures are difficult to distinguish. One page has a picture of a sheet and of a pillow and they look almost identical.

This book really helped me work on my pronunciation and vocabulary for a mission trip I took to Mexico in early January. I plan on passing it on to my daughter as she gets older...

I purchased this book for my three year old. She loves the pictures and we play find-it type games with them (ala - Waldo). The only real downfall is that while the Spanish words for many of the items in the picture are around the edges of each page, no pronunciation is included. I'm sure that's no big deal for parents who already speak Spanish, but unfortunately, I cannot read the words to my daughter since I don't know the Spanish rules for pronunciation. Sure, you can go to the internet and after typing in the page number and going through several clicks, hear a single sound clip of the word. That doesn't help me at bedtime, though. I would love to see a phonetic pronunciation under each word. Then, we'd be set!

The book is a fantastic and fun book to read. It will help others who are learning Spanish and it helps me too. Spanish is one of my most favorite languages.
My favorite pages are 44-45. Two other of my favorite pages are 36-37. This book is a interesting and easy way to learn Spanish. I love it!
Johnny, age 10.

This copy of the book was much smaller in size than other "First 1000 Words" books I've seen. Since the book was a gift for a young nephew, I was disappointed that it was rather small, and the print was also small.

This book is a wonderful addition to a Spanish language program or a great introduction to Spanish for young children. Each page has a large picture of a setting and is edged with small empty squares with the Spanish names for the objects pictured. Sticker pages throughout the book have the corresponding stickers. Each sticker has a picture of the object and the Spanish word for the object, making it appropriate for beginners. You could easily use this book to create vocabulary lists for your Spanish language study. My 5 year old likes this book and I plan to incorporate it into his homeschool studies.
