I bought this through a local place at a great price. We have instruction but there is no picture details on how to put it together.
I didn't think it was a box full of parts. I am a 42 year old woman and didn't have any trouble figuring out how to put it together. Come on men! ;) We had one part missing to the stool and thought I could figure something out from our garage tools. Anyway, we bought this for my 4 year old daughter. My 2 year old, 23 pound son, leaned over on the drum attached to the middle of the kick drum and it popped apart. I was shocked. It broke on the kick drum. The piece looks like cheap plastic that attached it. So after reading reviews I am going to order the DeRosa by Bridgecraft and see if that one is better. Let's hope so! this is a great little drum set if you are gentle with it. ive have been playing drums for about 7 years and it does me just fine. they are nice and lite for quieter practicing or to take to a practice session. but they will not survive a child especially if your child is rough with his toys. ive played heavy metal music on them and have been fine, but ive seen my my neighbor (age six) destroy one. in just a few hits he blew out the heads of the drum. if you have rough playing kids they will find the weak spots in the kit right away. id say 8 1/2 is a proper age for this. any younger would be a mistake

First be very clear, this is not a beginner set of drums. You can go to a lot of thrift stores and music stores and buy a set of drums for a beginner set. This is not a starter set or a beginner set. This is simply a toy that makes noise. While I hate to write negative reviews, especially for a toy that encourages creativity, musicality and a different type of experience; I'd probably skip this one altogether. The positives: If you are a small child who likes to bang drums, this is a great set for you. If you like to encourage your children to explore rhythm, noise, and have toys that do more than just push buttons- then you might consider this set. We didn't find it difficult to put together. The negatives: It is not very sturdy. After very little use the foot pedal broke on the base drum. We were able to jury rig it to work for a while but you shouldn't have to do that with toys. The tops where you bang have a very 'cheap' feel to them. They never broke when we were using them but they didn't feel sturdy or strong. A strong kid with a heavy hand could probably break this toy. If it were me, this is one toy I'd probably skip.
