If you have already read First Activation, get in touch if you would like to refresh yourself on the story before the release of the sequel in April.

HARRY and his brother JACK are on an airline flight, headed for a wild weekend–a ritual they have enjoyed every May since leaving the army. The trip takes a terrifying turn when they land in New York to find that JFK airport is almost deserted and that the few ground crew they can spot have all been brutally slaughtered. Is it a terrorist attack? Or something even more menacing? When a security guard appears and offers to help the passengers, but promptly shoots the first person off the plane and then kills himself, Harry realises that there is something very, very wrong in New York City.

Editorial Reviews

Ignite Books - This is a really gripping post-apocalyptic thriller which I enjoyed a great deal. The characters were believable and although I didn't always like their actions, I have never been in that position. I wonder how I'd behave. I think I'd be the first to be killed off! The authors are brothers and I do hope they will be collaborating again soon. There's room for a sequel but it stands very well by itself. Highly recommended.

It was a nice surprise that "First Activation" wasn't a redundant "zombie novel"..Right from the first chapter I was sucked into this story..What a suspenseful, intense, bloody, thrilling vaction I had with brothers Jack and Harry..Non-stop action right until the last paragraph of the page...Then fade to black..(If your into artistic independent films that is the way they end sometimes)..Loved the originality and storyline it was refreshing..Great characterization of both brothers from England..My first thoughts of the two brothers on the plane is that they were 30 something big boys looking for fun..Both were ex-military that were never involved in any combat..The author slowly developed them along their horrifying journey where they turned into smart, grown men with a tactical plan..No matter what the shocking turnout is in the end Jack and Harry were my heroes..Perfect depiction of a war torn NY, especially if you as a reader have grown up there..When the flight landed at JFK airport you could feel the panic and terror spilling from the pages...Great opening scene and excellent authors..

The premise of the novel is exactly like above so I am not repeating it..I will say that Genesis Alliance was like an underground cult and conspiracy that took many years of planning..As all evil masterminds want is to overthrow the govenment to create that ever, elusive New World Order..Will Jack, Harry and Lea get there in time before the second activation is set to go off...

While some may have mixed feelings about this book or the ending..I found this book had everything death, survival, at times witty humor, very emotional and the best part "Revenge"...

I can't wait to read something else by these authors in the future...

4.0 out of 5 stars GOOD BOOK! August 9, 2013
By Nina
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I usually don't like to buy books that haven't been reviewed yet . . . I hate to buy a book and then have it turn out to be bad. This one was only 99 cents and even though no one had reviewed it yet, the description sounded interesting so I took a chance. I'm really glad I did! The writing is good, and the book keeps you guessing. It held my interest and even though the characters weren't as fleshed-out as they could've been, they were likeable (the main ones anyway) and interesting. To me that's important, because if you don't care about or like the characters, you won't care what happens to them. The premise of the book, the activation, was something different and kept you guessing because you didn't always know who had been actually affected by it. I'd recommend this book, and would definitely read other works by these authors.

3.0 out of 5 stars First Activation-Makes You Wonder August 14, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
There is not one person that hasn't considered the end of the world as we know it. How will it happen and who will be the catalyst for such an extraordinary chain of events? These questions are ponder by the laymen, the governments and the geniuses all around the world. This is not a book that you will be able to second guess.

D.A. & M.P. Wearmouth will have you spellbound from the very first paragraph. Harry and Jack are on a plane taking their annual vacation when the plane suddenly jolts. Everyone on board is given a fright and it is only the beginning of a long surreal nightmare. The people on the ground are killing each other. The killing takes on an even greater menace because it seems that they have been brainwashed to kill one person and then kill themselves.

I won't give it away except to say that it is much more than just a terrorist attack. If you like mysteries and thrillers this is the perfect book for you. The ending is more of a to be continued but that is what makes it great the anticipation of the next installment.

5.0 out of 5 stars First Activation August 19, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
From the first few pages I was hooked. The writing is compelling and I couldn't read fast enough to see what was going to happen next. I had to finish the book in one sitting. I liked the relationship between brothers Harry and Jack. They were believable and likable. The dialogue was perfect and fit their personalities. I cannot wait for the next in the series.

1.0 out of 5 stars I can't believe I made it through the whole thing October 2, 2013
By J. West
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is atrocious. To reiterate what other commenters have said, the actions taken by the protagonists are bizarre with meaningless consequences to their actions. For example:
Getting drunk on guard duty and then abandoning the farm they're guarding to go spy on someone
Getting food poisoning from eating a three day old chicken sandwich found in the glove box of a random car
When meeting strangers, randomly treating them with kindness or swearing at them and getting in wrestling matches.

Seriously, villains from scooby doo are more with it than the antagonists in this book.

The book is also a horrible example of what life would be like after the apocalypse. The story takes place in a notional NYC where everybody died suddenly, but there seem to only be ~100 bodies on the streets and no cars. In one paragraph they'll be terrified of venturing outside and then in the next paragraph decide to stroll to the local hardware store.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the time January 12, 2014
By Curtis
Format:Kindle Edition
The story starts off OK at best and only goes downhill from there. I didn't care for the writing style at all. There was no character development so couldn't really care to much about them. The decisions that they make and actions that they take are inconsistent and ridiculous. I can honestly say that it is one of, if not the worst, book I have read. I would give it zero stars if I could.

3.0 out of 5 stars A good story that wasn't allowed to mature
Its starts out thrilling, then losses its pace. This book was a good story, that wasn't fully allowed to develop and mature. The ending was rushed!

3.0 out of 5 stars Great story line and overall well written
Great story line and overall well written. Very few noticeable errors. There could have been more character development/back story. Maybe this will be done in the next installment.
