I highly recommend the book "First Aid for Enablers" for anyone who has a child/spouse/sibling/close friend with addiction issues.

The book is an easy read, and it imparts practical advice that can change your life and perhaps even the life of the addict you love.

This is the best book I have read regarding the issues facing the families of addicts. It is full of honest, practical advice. I keep buying copies to give away.

This short book was helpful with concise information at I time that I needed quick help. No frills, just facts.

This book barely scratches the surface. To much scenarios, which came to sounding alike and not enough on the "help". Then little more then 1/2 way through I start seeing God being laced in here and there, until the ending chapter is choke full of Jesus. This religious propaganda is what keeps me out of Al-Anon and the like. Why do you have to believe in a Higher Power to over come adversely? Why can't one just believe in oneself? Because of this tactic and what I mentioned prior I found this book a waste of time and money, even as little as it that there was.

This is an incredibly informative book. I realized that I was an enabler and have since been able to modify my actions; this has proved to become fruitful for our family and we have made a complete turn-around in the life cycle of addition. I have learned to become more assertive and helpful, not enabling.

Good book that is all true when living with addicted people but this book is somewhat redundant from chapter to chapter

Good book. Nothing earth shattering. Anecdotes throughout. Good for family before intervention... Not much help for after rehab & transitioning into new relationship with addict.

Amazing, short, to the point book with strategies to help enablers. If addiction is new to your family then this is a must read.
