I highly recommend the book "First Aid for Enablers" for anyone who has a child/spouse/sibling/close friend with addiction issues.

The book is an easy read, and it imparts practical advice that can change your life and perhaps even the life of the addict you love.

This is the best book I have read regarding the issues facing the families of addicts. It is full of honest, practical advice. I keep buying copies to give away.

This is an incredibly informative book. I realized that I was an enabler and have since been able to modify my actions; this has proved to become fruitful for our family and we have made a complete turn-around in the life cycle of addition. I have learned to become more assertive and helpful, not enabling.

I like the way they spell out exactly how you are an enabler. I really thought that I was helping, but I was only freeing up their rent money and grocery money for them to buy drugs. I have my grandkids now. I am learning all that I can to arm myself for the next step wherever it takes me.

This book barely scratches the surface. To much scenarios, which came to sounding alike and not enough on the "help". Then little more then 1/2 way through I start seeing God being laced in here and there, until the ending chapter is choke full of Jesus. This religious propaganda is what keeps me out of Al-Anon and the like. Why do you have to believe in a Higher Power to over come adversely? Why can't one just believe in oneself? Because of this tactic and what I mentioned prior I found this book a waste of time and money, even as little as it that there was.

This book was just ok for me. It didn't give a lot of help outside of check into AA or find the drinker a recovery program. I am just a parent in search of help and understanding of why. I know only my child can truly help themselves but its hard for a parent to watch. Have found other books on this subject a lot more helpful.

Having attended Nar Anon meetings, every week for the past 16 mos, I found this book exceptional in many ways The definition of enabling is the best I've ever been exposed to and the questions posed to determine if you are enabling are so incredibly revealing. I recommend this book to anyone dealing with addiction within their families or with their friends. It is so powerful!!!

This book is a good starting point to build a foundation to start working the steps. It is also a good product to make sure the blueprints were worked right. It is also a nice brown bag or quick pick me up. I used to think myself an alcoholic parasite, but in reality, I am a reverse parasite. I leach onto people, and let then suck the blood and life out of me. I've got to stop that,
