I sprained my ankle something nasty about 4 days ago. I quickly tired of rotating through the gel compresses that are stored in the freezer, partly because I simply cannot stay in one place for very long, and wanted something more convenient. I stopped by the local drugstore, looking for instant cold compresses. They only came in packs of two for what I felt was an outrageous price. So what do I do? I hop on Amazon as soon I get home to find a better deal. I settled on this item because it was the best price.
The product arrived last night, and I threw three packs into my shoulder bag to keep at work with me. I have tried all three packs, and none of them got cold. They were cool to the touch, but far, far removed from being cold. Shaking the bag will provide 2-3 seconds of reasonable cold, but this product is useless for my swollen ankle. This wouldn't even be a good cold pack for a summer day. This was a waste of money, and I do not recommend this brand. Other brands get much colder. If I find one that works better, I'll try to remember to post back here with a recommendation.

These icepacks do not get very cold and don't stay cold long. Try Ace brand instead.

I buy these in bulk for our indoor playground and I'm purchasing these again in bulk again. We get lots of bumps and bruises with the kids and all you have to do is smack it hard against a counter or clap both hands on it and it instantly gets cold. It has always worked. Always!

The compresses arrived quickly and in great shape. They are definitely for temporary cold therapy, but last as long or longer as more expensive ones we have purchased locally. They seem to be fairly durable. We go through a lot of these things due to medical issues and have been very satisfied with their performance--will definitely order again. One word of warning---they are VERY cold, so be certain to protect skin with a cloth between you and the cold compress.

I order these for our school. They work fine and cost twice as much elsewhere.
