With three kids involved in sports, this bulk supply of low cost ice packs is great. They get cold fast and last about 20 minutes or so. I usually keep a couple in each athletic bag and a couple in each vehicle and I have them on automatic re-order with Subscribe and Save every six months, which makes them an even better value. As a practical matter, you should throw them away right after they warm up since they can't be re-frozen and they tend to sweat a little, leaving a white crusty substance that will probably kill you.

I get a case of these at the start of each coaching season and they work great. They are good size (not the tiny ones you'll find for cheap), are easy to activate, and stay very cold for several minutes. I keep several of these in my coaching bags and will continue to buy them. They come individually boxed which make them great for handing out to other coaches (which I do each year), and it helps keep them from activating prematurely. I'm very happy with these, and suggest them to anyone. I will continue to purchase them each season.

I had spine surgery last year and the ice pack I love that lives in my freezer wasn't going to help much on my trip to India. So I bought a case of these. And, YAY. Saved the day.

My daughter is a cheerleader and plays softball. I keep these in my car for emergencies and they are invaluable. In their boxes, they tuck nicely into small spaces, and easily *pop* to make cold compresses for emergency injuries. So far, I have used them for everything from broken cheekbones, to black eyes, to sprained ankles. They are perfect for getting immediate cold onto an injury until medical attention becomes available.

These are good emergency cold-compresses, however they have a very short lifespan of about 15-20 minutes. For the price they are fine, but I will still rely on reusable freezer compresses for at home.

Bulk purchasing is definitely the best way to stock up on these cold packs. The unit price is much better, and you will have plenty on hand when the need arises. With 4 children in the house, at any moment we need to have access to cold packs, and my wife was tired of us ruining her frozen vegetables when we ran out of these first aid versions. Now that we buy them in boxes of 20, it doesn't happen. As other reviewers have noted, these really aren't reusable so you just have to toss them once they warm up.
