5.0 out of 5 stars Great review of First Aid= great review for step 1, April 12, 2008
This review is from: First Aid QAndA for the USMLE Step 1 (First Aid Series) (Paperback)
Almost every medical student uses First Aid for Step one because the bottom line is that it works. This book is by the same authors and pretty much reviews the same topics. If you know First Aid and you can breathe than you will pass Step one and what better way to ensure that you know the material in first aid than to test yourself. I would use first aid to guide my studying and supplement it with other review books then test myself by doing the questions for the corresponding sections in the Q&A. It worked great because the chapters correlate directly between the two books which made rpaid studying a cinch. Some people will tell you that these questions are easier than on the real test and they are correct but you need to know the basic facts reviewed in this book before you step up to the real thing on test day. The answers to the questions are awesome, they don't taker the easy way out by only telling you why the correct answer is correct they also take the time to explain why incorrect answers are incorrect which is really helpful because you cover more material this way. I would suggest this book to any 2nd year medical student getting ready for step 1 because this book really helps you prepare for the test and there is one full test included which you can used prior to test day to guage how ready you are.

5.0 out of 5 stars First Aid for USMLE-Q&A, May 8, 2007
This review is from: First Aid QAndA for the USMLE Step 1 (First Aid Series) (Paperback)
This is a great resource for boards prep. It breaks down questions by organ system, has a large "practice test", and has some basic science sections too. Its nice because you can review a specific organ system or area and then quiz yourself with questions directed toward that specific area too.

This review is from: First Aid QAndA for the USMLE Step 1 (First Aid Series) (Paperback)
although i agree that the kaplan q bank and usmle-world are invaluable resources for step one, i personally hate hate HATE to study on the computer. this book was a good solution. i found it true to the exam, and suited me and my need to have something physically in front of me to scribble on. solidly reviewing the questions in this book -- 2 or 3 times -- would be a good basis for taking step 1.
