I already have a couple of first aid books. There is no such thing as too many first aid books. This is great book. It measures about 3" long x 6" tall x 1-1/2" deep. It is spiral bound at the top and waterproof. The pages flip over easily and lay flat. There are 222 pages plus the index. There are some illustrations and color photos, not as many as there should be, in my opinion: in this type of book there should be more. Of course, that would make the book even thicker. All in all, the author, Ms. Jones, an EMT and RN did a good job of putting together this compact book. The size makes it easy to put in a glove compartment, backpack or purse. It can even fit inside a shirt pocket. I have no problem recommending this book to others. Combined with a first aid kit, I feel you'd have a great combination to tend to most problems.

I didn't pay attention to the measurements of this book. It is too small to read at leisure let alone in an emergency. I get it needs to be small enough for a back pack but I do not know how anyone would be able to use it in an emergency situation.

I am so packing this thing when the zombie apocalypse happens. If the print were any bigger (and if you somehow lost your glasses during a zombie pursuit- you would need a magnifying glass, or a friend with good eyes) it would be the size of an encyclopedia. So all in all awesome!

Good product. I was hoping for more survival information but it suffices in that area. Great product for the family survival kit.

This book fits in the palm of your hand. While it is a bit thick it will fit in a pocket, purse, bag, backpack, glove compartment, etc. The colorful pages and typeset make it easy to read and get the point. And it is spiral bound and waterproof making it easy to use anywhere.

It is amazing how much information is in this little book. While I haven't read everything yet, I do know the CPR and a lot of the information goes along with what is taught today.

The book suggests taking First Aid and CPR training but this is an invaluable tool to have with you all the time to help you along in an emergency.

FIRST AID, SURVIVAL, AND CPR: HOME AND FIELD POCKET GUIDE is far and away the best first aid handbook that I've ever come across. It has a plastic spiral binding, so it lies open and flat at the pages you've located that have the instructions (often illustrated) on handling your emergency. It has tabs (Safety, CPR, Medical, Injury, Enviro, Poison, Disaster, Survive) that help you quickly find the general topic you need. (For example, the "Environmental Emergencies" tab covers altitude sickness, cold-related problems (e.g., frostbite), heat-related problems (e.g., heat cramps), lightning injuries, and water and scuba diving emergencies.)

The instructions are so clearly written, I think almost anyone could manage an uncomplicated delivery of a baby after reading the four relevant, illustrated pages. There is a lot of home and personal safety information (e.g., how to use a fire extinguisher) that is well worth reading in advance of an emergency. Finally, there is an excellent, detailed index that will get you quickly to topics like "choking", "bleeding", or "burns" when you don't have time to guess about the tab location.

I have wanted a first aid manual like this one for a very long time. It is small (3" wide x 6" high x 1" thick), and has laminated (waterproof) pages. The pages are printed on both sides, and although the print is small, I have no difficulty reading it with my normal reading glasses. The whole book will fit into a backpack or glove compartment without taking up a lot of space.

I think that this pocket guide is much more complete, and much easier to use in an emergency, than either the AMA

Chunky but small. Full of info. Plan to keep it in the office of the stables where I volunteer.
