My First Airplane Ride

My daughter loves this book! We got it from the library before we took a trip, and it details the steps involved with an airplane trip very easily (checking in, security check, waiting at the gate, LOUD take-off...ect). Each page has a simple rhyming sentence or two and adorable pictures. We've read it so many times my daughter "reads" it to herself all the time now. We purchased it so we can pull it out before any future trips to help her remember what's involved with air travel.

My 11 month old son wants to read this book over and over. If you hide it on the coffee table, he points to the table until you retrieve it. It has also helped to stave off meltdowns at the airport. I just repeat the words in the book and then he remembers why we are waiting in line and gets excited. Highly recommended!

We wanted to try to help our almost 2 year old understand what to expect from a plane trip and this book has been great. He loves the pictures and I appreciate that it has pictures of things like taking shoes off at the security gate so that we can try to help prepare him for the trip. We looked at a couple other books but this was definitely the one that 1) interested him the most and 2) had the best information on getting him prepared what to expect.

This book was easy to read and easy to understand the basics of commercial flight travel for my 6 year old son. He thoroughly enjoyed the book. He knew what to expect and what to do for our travel day starting from the time we left our home until the time we landed at our destination.

I bought this book to help prepare a toddler (20 months) for riding in an airplane. She is captivated by this book. The illustrations are just right -- bright enough for her to figure out what's going on and easy to identify all of the objects being shown. There are things to talk about/point out on each page (e.g., the teddy bear is looking out the window too, the boy's socks are different colors). My daughter pulls this book out at least once a day saying "Airplane! Airplane!" and wants me to read her the book. It has been a huge hit.

This book is great for taking a new little one through the steps of a first plane ride! I read it to a pre-K
class and then they pretended to be going on a trip to really experience a plane ride....they loved the book!

I bought several airplane books to help prepare my 3 year old daughter for a 12 hour flight coming up. This is her first plane ride and I wanted to help her know what to expect. She LOVES this book, she loves that there is a grandma at the end to greet the child, just as in her case, we are going to visit her grandma in South America. She loves the catchy phrases and nice big pictures, and is starting to memorize it and know it by heart which is so cute. OUt of the pile of about 5 airplane ride books I bought, this is always the one she grabs and says, "read my airplane book." The cost is a little higher than the others but way worth it, since it really strikes a cord with her. I think she would like this book even if I hadn't bought it for the reason to prepare her, I think it is just pleasing to kids with the short, catchy phrases and big, bright colors. Very pleased! The only reason I did not put 5 stars is that I wish I could find a book to address some of the negative things that we might/will encounter like waiting, getting hungry, going potty in public restrooms, not staring at other passengers, not yelling or whining, getting tired, strange noises and cramped spaces....and somehow put a positive spin on it like....but it is all worth it to see Grandma at the end of the long plane ride! Yes, it's fun and cool to ride in an airplane but it's long, annoying, and there are rules to follow as well, a good lesson for kids to learn from.

This book was for my granddaughter who is taking her first airplane ride. She is now excited and no longer afraid of being on a plane, the prospect of getting here sooner than a 3 day car ride is thrilling to her

Although in the "used" category (whatever the top condition is), this book is virtually new and arrived in a timely manner, in beautiful condition. The child who has been wanting it is going to be thrilled!

I actually really liked this book, it goes through the whole process of before you get on the plane, being on the plane etc. It was def a little old for my daughter, 19 months, but she does enjoy having this book read to her.
