4.0 out of 5 stars Great Product with no real "Key Issues"
The safe comes with an override key and two safe keys. The override key works without having to use the combination. The other keys require that you input the code. The manual does not give you the full instructions for opening the safe with the safe keys. I had to call the company and was given help. I love the safe.

3.0 out of 5 stars you have to use a key together with the code
It is never clear in the discription that to open this safe, you have to use a key together with your combination code. So it is critical that you don't lose your key.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Size but Poor Quality, November 10, 2007
This review is from: First Alert 2073F Anti-Theft Safe with Digital Lock, 0.62-Cubic Foot, Gray (Tools & Home Improvement)
The Honeywell 0.6 cu. ft. safe we bought is only marginally working out for us. It is a very conveinant size but we wanted to mount it with the door facing up, not forward, and in that direction the entry lock sticks as the safe door is closed.

Once in a while the door will close completely and allow removal of the key, but most of the time the door stays ajar and the key won't come out.

I rotated the safe and it works correctly if the door is facing forward.

Bottom line: it works, but not the way I wanted it to.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very poor quality, August 18, 2008

I had the same problem as a previous reviewer, the key is stuck in the lock (1st day using the safe). Even the most primitive QA process in the factory would have caught this. There's no excuse for this kind of thing, it's going back to Amazon.

I have owned this safe since 2008. My expectations of this are NOT ridiculous, like some of the reviews here. I am SURE there was enough description when ALL of us bought this to let us KNOW what its limitations and benefits are. If you DON'T like NOT seeing the safe and playing with it to know if it will fit all your needs, including mounting capablilities - DON'T buy it online!

People: WHAT is the huge problem of having a SAFE come with keys AND digital code to get it open? It is a S-A-F-E! In MY opinion, that is BETTER!! Ok...maybe the instructions are little lacking. USE YOUR HEAD. Don't come on here and complain about a product when YOU didn't do your homework. Do you need EVERYTHING in life SPELLED OUT?

For me, this safe works GREAT and I would recommend it to ANYONE. Sure there are some small issues BUT EVERYTHING DOES. I BOUGHT it ONLINE sight unseen based on the description and my needs; it was under $100; AND it houses my stuff I need to keep safe LIKE IT SAYS and I CAN rely on it.

Had this safe built into an inside wall more than a year ago. It's great. We use it daily, several times a day. No problems. Not flimsy...may not withstand a serious attack with explosives or a torch, but not flimsy. Batteries seem to last a long time, I've only replaced them once. I have no reservation in recommending this unit.

1.0 out of 5 stars very disappointed, December 19, 2010
This review is from: First Alert 2073F Anti-Theft Safe with Digital Lock, 0.62-Cubic Foot, Gray (Tools & Home Improvement)
Although i often read reviews, I have never written one. DO NOT BUY THIS SAFE!!!! This safe in my opinion is complete garbage for many reasons. $50 down the drain. First of all the huge sticker they put on the front is impossible to remove. I spent a half hour trying to clean off the glue from the sticker with no luck. I tried everything. Scrubbing, scraping etc. I think I will have to go buy goo-b-gone or something strong to eat thru the glue. Ok, then I went to put the legs on and 3 of 4 went on ok but the 4th bolt was too big for the hole so by forcing it, it stripped so now I have to either go out and buy a new bolt that will fit or not use the legs at all. Also the leg bolts stick up thru the bottom of the safe so now you do not have a flat surface on the inside floor of the safe. And then if you decide to bolt it to a shelf the bolts for that are really long so now you have 4 even longer bolts sticking up thru the floor of your safe. Next having to use a key along with the combination actually seems really silly and impractible to me. And last but not least the door does NOT lock when I close it and turn the key like the directions say it should. Not sure why but I will be calling the company. HATE IT!!!HATE IT!!! HATE IT!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, February 1, 2009
This review is from: First Alert 2073F Anti-Theft Safe with Digital Lock, 0.62-Cubic Foot, Gray (Tools & Home Improvement)
It's a sturdy safe, however the regular keys didn't work, only the safety does. The point of the safe being digital is so you don't have to utilize a key, i use the key on this safe, the code doesn't open it, even if it did there's no handle so you need the key in the hole to have a makeshift handle. Not what i thought it was gonna be, wish i would have returned it.
