Didn't make it 10 years,

I got two of these because it seemed like a good thing. Changing the batteries every year got to be a hassle. Both of them started chirping about 2 years after I got them. I tried another model and it's lasted much longer. It was less expensive too!

I bought 3 of these alarms in 1999. After 4 months all 3 of the alarms gave the low battery warning. So much for the 10yr battery, which actually wasnt replaced until now (july 2001)

I'm thrilled to see these still on the market. The one I installed nine years ago is still working fine but I know that it will probably need replacing soon. They've made it so much easier than getting on a ladder every 6 months to replace a 9 volt!

We got this alarm in 1996 and the batteries have just now given up. Easy to put up and no electric wiring or changing of batteries to deal with. this is my kind of alarm! - Jeanie Cody

Nearly ten years ago, the lithium battery or interconnected smoke detectors became required for registered daycare homes. We decided to try the First Alert 10-year lithium battery smoke detectors instead of wiring in the interconnected system. There have been absolutely no problems with either of our detectors, other than the fact that when the oven or toaster set one off, you can't yank out the battery to make it stop!

I bought this smoke alarm to take care of my loved ones. Smoke alarms do a wonderful job, when they've got batteries in them. Changing batteries is no picnic either. You've got to go buy batteries, haul out the step ladder, go up the ladder, yank the smoke alarm off the ceiling, monkey with the cover, change the battery, go back up the ladder, and FINALLY put the smoke alarm back on the ceiling. This smoke alarm does not need battery changes, the batteries last as long as the smoke alarm does. You NEVER need to buy batteries at all, saving your time and your money. Just install it once, and replace it ten (yes TEN!) years later. How much simpler can it be?
