good unit for the price
A basic smoke and fire alarm that functions as described. Well worth the price; that pretty much says it all.

a real piece of crap
Just try to insert the battery and get a response. It won't happen! The battery insertion design is terrible. Just wish they made the old kind where you actually "attached" the battery to cables. In this design you insert the battery (with great difficulty) into a slide out drawer. It doesn't fit well and you NEVER get a chirp to tell you...

In this design you insert the battery (with great difficulty) into a slide out drawer. It doesn't fit well and you NEVER get a chirp to tell you it's working. The only way you can tell if it's working is to blow smoke into it. NOT GOOD

I received a 2 pack of these for Christmas. HORRIBLE to try to read instructions once you get it out of the awful plastic prison package! Then the battery drawer idea is totally crap. I got a little blink of light when I hit the test button but nothing to let me know it is an alarm! I am taking the whole pile of crap back to the giver....sorry if it was purchased from you Amazon....not your fault!
