5.0 out of 5 stars A Very Important Work
Dr. Nyland's translation of 1 Enoch is brilliant and has come at the perfect time, as I am working on projects that require this information. I had no idea that this book would include the whole Book of Enoch with all-inclusive commentary and cross-references concerning the very same beings who I am researching. 3.0 out of 5 stars Should be 5 stars but not Bible Canon
I am a big fan of Dr. Nyland's translations of Enoch and the Book of Jubilees and the Book of Thomas but we have to remember that these are NOT CANON. God did not write these books.
It was recommended to me to get Dr. Nyland's translations of these ancient books by a group of Bible translators praising her translations. And they should be praised. But we have to...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Very Important Work, September 13, 2010
Dr. Nyland's translation of 1 Enoch is brilliant and has come at the perfect time, as I am working on projects that require this information. I had no idea that this book would include the whole Book of Enoch with all-inclusive commentary and cross-references concerning the very same beings who I am researching. This book is a gem and should be included in the libraries of all demonologists, as well as anyone who is interested in knowing who the principalities are behind spiritual warfare. I recommend this book for all open-minded Christians who have not been brainwashed by the watered-down teachings of their churches. I truly wish that I would have read this book before writing my first novel, as it would have had a completely different storyline for the demon named Sancho.

I should also note the significance of the many other important prophetic messages that Dr. Nyland has translated into easily understood modern English. The last days are upon us and God has allowed for this new knowledge to be spread throughout the world. It was 1947 when the first of the controversial Dead Sea Scrolls were found within the Qumran caves. 1 Enoch was obviously at one time a part of the original canon, as Jude directly quoted from 1 Enoch chapter 1 in his prophetic message within the B'rit Hadashah (New Testament).

It is time for all believers to understand the importance of The Book of Enoch and I am very pleased to know that there are lexicographers such as Dr. Nyland in this world who are working toward bringing this knowledge to the people. May God bless her work and protect her from evil as she continues to do His will through her.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enoch is Enoch., September 6, 2010
Dr Ann Nyland's new translation from the Greek version of the Book of Enoch (1 Enoch, or the Ethiopian Enoch) is refreshingly original, easy to read, and rich in informative notes. The Book of Enoch is usually known to Christians only through the short quotation in the Letter of Jude, but Dr Nyland here makes available the full panoply of places, events and creatures (including Watchers, Angels and Nephilim). Her prose renders this mythic cosmos vividly while retaining its strangeness and gives the reader clear insight into the demonology which underpins the New Testament. Highly recommended for believers and historians of religion alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enoch - Thought Provoking, higly recommend, September 11, 2010
I highly recommend Dr. A. Nylands `Book of Enoch: Angels, Watchers and Nephilim. Her translation includes scripture cross references and translation clarifications and explanations, which are fascinating and quite insightful. The book is clear and easy to read. I found Enoch's stories, journeys, and explanations engrossing and enjoyable.
Dr. A. Nylands book caught my attention from the title. I'm an avid fan of "other worldly" stories from traditional mainstream fiction. Enoch's book combined with Nylands translation makes for a captivating and thought provoking read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Should be 5 stars but not Bible Canon, September 6, 2011
This review is from: First Book of Enoch, Angels, Watchers, Nephilim (1 Enoch / The First Book of Enoch) (Kindle Edition)
But we have to remember that these books are not part of Holy Scriptures, God did not write these books.
Like other translations of Dr. Nyland's this was very easy to read and understandable and indeed most informative.
It should be 5 stars but I am only worried that if I recommend it for 5 stars as some people may be mistaken and think it was written by God.

5.0 out of 5 stars A most remarkable piece of scholarship, October 11, 2010
This review is from: First Book of Enoch, Angels, Watchers, Nephilim (1 Enoch / The First Book of Enoch) (Kindle Edition)
This is a book that really opened my imagination to the spiritual world and how diverse and fascinating the historical documents can be on this topic. This book is not one of the old public domain translations rehashed for sale, it is a new original translation with cross Biblical references, has extra info on angels, the Watchers and the Nephilim. I would say it is excellent for anyone with an interest in angels and demons. I had real trouble putting this one down and even missed an appointment I became so intrigued!

I think we have been sold short in many ways by the manipulations of organised religious powers that have tried to censor what they want us to know. The internet has provided a democratisation of knowledge and particularly in spiritual knowledge such as this. I am aware that this can lead to a lot of oddbods publishing little more than their own excentric ramblings. However the epistemological basis for this work comes from rigorus research and many cross biblical references. This allows the text to remain grounded in scripture but to bring further enlightenment. I am excited by this work and can't wait to see what Dr Nyland will come up with next!

I love this book! Finding information regarding the giants of Genesis 6 is near impossible. This truly brings characters to whole new light. Makes one wonder just why they were surpressed by the early church.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good reference text, nothing more., June 2, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The author did a good job finding all related texts to the story of the Watchers and the Book of Enoch, but she provided no analysis or interpretation. This book is useful for research and reference, but that's about it. The book is entirely cut-and-pasted text. There is no author in this book.
