5.0 out of 5 stars THE TRUE GREEN LANTERN AND THE FIRST
This is the figure of the first Green Lantern, Alan Scott, who made his first appearance back in All American Comics #16 in 1940. Created by Martin Nodell and inspired by Aladdin's lamp, Scott finds a mystical lantern and fashions a ring of power from it that charges itself when pressed against the lantern. 1.0 out of 5 stars Not True
The Green Lantern is an African-American hero. I really wanted to give toy a zero, but it's not a selection.

This review is from: First Appearance Series 2: Green Lantern Alan Scott Action Figure (Toy)
It gave an almost unlimted source of power although it had a strange weakness against anything wood. Such was the golden age of comics. Later, Green lantern would get his own title that would run for 38 issues. The Green lantern was one of the founding members of the first super team, The Justice Society of America. The second Green Lantern, Hal Jordan, did not appear until 20 years later in 1960.

This is a brilliant figure. Well sculpted and colored. His costume shows the homespun charm of the 1940's by not being the skin-tight leotards that are worn today. A great likeness of one of the truly legendary Golden Age heroes. What a shame so many people are ignorant of the fantastic golden age characters.

There were many Green Lanterns throughout the DC Comics history. Among them your African American Jon Stewart. I don't know who the orignal Green Lantern was but the second one is the best and most popular in history. I just happen to have his action figure and is making a comic book comeback the irreplacable HAL JORDAN!
