Tricky Woo Meets Van Halen,
By
This review is from: First Blush (Dig) (Audio CD)
I am a massive Tricky Woo fan and it's good to see them back in fine form. They album has some furious, high energy Rock n' Roll but with a touch of '70's metal' that they never had before. I'd compare it to Tricky Woo meets early Van Halen. I had the pleasure of seeing the new line up (with guitarist Adrian P. back in the fold) and they are better than ever....which is hard to believe since they were the best live band in Canada in the "Sometimes I Cry" days. I would recommend picking "Somtimes I Cry" if you are buying your first Woo album. If you are a fan already though, you will love First Blush.

get right to it - this album is every bit as heavy and crazy as Tricky Woo ever has been. only difference is it sounds like they've been listening to a lot more metal. just about every song is a perfect Woo track. the first song isn't that good - but after that, the songs reach fever pitch and stay there. Sometimes I Cry still serves as a better 1st Woo joint to pick up, but First Blush is like a gift to fans who have been waiting for more.
