Editorial Reviews

Review

"We have best understood the Bible when we turn it into prayer. That is what Philip Ross does for children in My First Book of Bible Prayers. He takes brief texts of Scripture and turns them into simple, and yet profound prayers that children can readily use. This little booklet will open the heavens for many at a young age. I wish this rich spiritual resource had been available to me twenty years ago!" ~ Douglas F. Kelly (Richard Jordan Professor of Theology, Reformed Theological Seminary, Charlotte, North Carolina)

About the Author

He worked extensively on the well-received Christian Heritage editions of The Marrow of Modern Divinity and subtitled five John Owen works – The Glory of Christ, The Holy Spirit, Communion with God, Assurance and The Priesthood of Christ. I was very disappointed in this book. The title and the picture of the little boy on the front cover in no way reflects the content of the prayers inside the book and the comments underneath. The first page illustrates that clearly: 'Creation will perish, but Jesus will remain - Some day God will destroy the whole world'. Now, I believe that with all my heart, but it is not where I would start helping my grandchildren to pray!

My 5 year old loves this book. We use the prayers daily. It is just the right size, font and content for my 5 year old.

The prayers are nice, but I don't care for the author's explanations in the footnotes. this book is disappointingly small & thin for it's price. It should only be 50 cents at your local church. The pictures are small black line drawings, nothing special.
