Good beginner collection,

I use this collection with all of my teen soprano voice students, and it is an excellent collection. I gave it only four stars for two reasons: first, several of the song accompaniment tracks are too fast in my opinion, and my students have felt the same way. Second, it would have been nice to have a little more variety; most of these are love ballads in the old-fashioned broadway tradition. And, it's a good tradition, but it would have been nice to have a few contemporary broadway songs and some comic pieces to choose from. The mezzo-soprano anthology in this series does a better job of this, and I realize that sopranos are pretty type-cast in broadway. So, overall, it's a great collection. I also appreciate the recorded accompaniment arrangements as they bring out the vocal line, which really helps beginning students. It's definitely an essential for the voice studio if you work with teens or beginning adults. I use these books and Schirmer's 24 Italian Songs with practically every student. [...]
