The demon world has been separated from our world for centuries. Humans are a myth.

When one of the demon lord is assassinated, his son, Balthazar, inherits the throne. But in order to keep it, he has to develop his powers and the help of one human is required.

I found little to like about the story. Alexandra, the heroine, does nothing. She has no will power, follows Balthazar rather blindly and interferes in dangerous situations. She starts to whole adventure by following a old guy in the forest without thinking : gee, maybe it's not a good idea to follow a complete stranger away from the camping site and my friends, in the dark. If it were an horror flick, she'd be gone, baby gone.

The demon world is, for some reasons, reminiscent of arab culture. Tents, clothing (the famous bra and loose skirt for the ladies), concubines, dances, zenana, the submissive attitudes of women, the war lords etc. No explanations of why, on all our cultures, this one was the prevalent one in the Demon's world. Maybe it's the author idea of absolute hell ? I found it peculiar.

The romance part was weak. Balthazar was clearly more preoccupied by war, politics and his powers than Alexandra. Apart from his looks,Alexandra has really no reason to fall for Balthazar since he spends most of his time either ignoring her wishes or telling her to stay put and shut up. I guess the lust factor is strong. They almost have sex. Almost being the operative word. Call me conventional but I expect my demons to be more sexually active.

I'm sorry but he whole thing was,to me, boring. The heroes have no spark, no energy. The demons were not evil. They sounded like ordinary people with some magical powers. I admit my enjoyment was lessened by my north american cultural expectations of what a demon and a demonic world is supposed to be. For this reason, I gave it two stars. Maybe another reader would not react the same way as I did.

I found this story to be awful. The plot was interesting but the characters and the "romance" just killed it. The "romance" between Balthazar and Alexandra was terrible and wasn't even close to believable. Balthazar was a spoiled, arrogant brat the whole story and Alexandra is apparently a masochist who desperately needs a wake-up call.

I absolutely love this book. At first I was a little apprehensive about it because it is a free book, however now that I have read this book I can't wait to read the rest of the series. In the beginning of the book I was slightly confused about who was whom. Once you get past chapter 3 you are addicted to this book, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that likes supernatural books

I never give up on a story but this one was just intolerable. Every time a character spoke their name was mentioned. Example: Sami said... Sami thought. Sami laughed.... some character identification is key when dialogue is taking place but this book was insane with name repetition. I would compare it to a 3rd grade writing level and I am not exaggerating! Not even worth the free price. I fully believe any positive reviews on this book were from paid commentators or friends of the author

This book is a jumper. Jumps from one scene to another without any background. Super confusing! I couldn't pin point a lot of the characters. This book needs organization better background and grammar.

I really don't have woods to describe this amazing book. The author knows how to hook a person in and keep them there. Can't wait to get the next book to read!

This book is a quick read. It is listed at 245 pages, but with how fast it goes it honestly feels closer to 145. I read it in three hours.

I liked the book and am looking forward to the next book. The ending to this one left me a bit like "what just happened?", but I guess that was the author's intent.

Worth picking up.
