Many love stories are about opposites attracting each other, "Love Story", "Pretty in Pink", "Jane Eyre", "Stargirl", etc, etc. This story is no different, a story of a quirky and outgoing and carefree young woman who attracts the attention of a shy and introverted young man who has been scarred by life. Becoming friends, somewhat forcibly for Gray at first (well, seemingly, but not really), when Dylan notices him watching her as she photographs insects on a sidewalk...
The story which unfolds is about what happens when two people completely different form a relationship together, the good and the bad. I see complaints about Gray being verbally abusive, but I can say in all honesty, I could parallel myself to Gray in that department, for similar reasons, I was severely scarred by life. Now, I have come out of that and I don't feel the need to say harsh things anymore, but often times, when we experience things that change us in a negative way, it makes us do things we don't want to, and I feel this book portrayed that in a very accurate way.
I enjoyed watching their relationship unfold, and was sad to see the book end, I love a good romantic read, and this book was a nice change of pace from some of the romance books I have read in the past, highly recommended. :)
