Deodato at his best * * * * * * * * * * * * *, August 20, 2002
This is a superb album; I grew up listening to it and fell in love with it as years went by; It's got eveything Deodato always expressed in his music; talent, funk, jazz, rock, lots of keyboards, immagination, skills way ahead of his time. etc. etc.
Black Dog was a classic back then and still is, and perhaps the best cut in the album is Adam's Hotel by Marcos Valle. A definite Must-Have for Jazz and Rock fans.

COOL MUSIC, May 16, 2007
This review is from: First Cuckoo (Audio CD)
When you're skull is broken, your eardrums had split and you had an overdosed of heavy metal sounds. It's time to get back again to your senses! Now listen to fusion jazz. This is one of the greatest fusion albums of all time. Listen to Crabwalk, Speak Low & Adam's Hotel and you'll know why. Back in 1975 (32 years ago) when I was still a grade 5 student I had bought this album already in LP for only 23 pesos (approx US$ 3.83) together with Beatles' Abbey Road and Gino Vannelli's Storm At Sunup. Price of the 3 LP? 69 pesos only = US$ 11.49
Now I just can't believe that the price of this album is already around US$ 40 including shipping and handling fees. This is the most expensive among my collection of albums. Anyway it's worth the price. It's a collector's must whether you're a rocker or a jazz aficionado.
Personnel in this album include John Tropea on guitars, Steve Gadd on drums, Will Lee on bass, Hugh McCracken on Guitars, Lou Marini on flute, John Gatchell on Trumpet and of course Deodato on piano and clavinet.
Get it before they run out of copies.
