Allow me if you will a moment to just sum up one of the rare stunning pieces of Latin jazz to hit the scene today. As fresh as the morning after as elegant as the women the night before, First Dance is by all standards a cascade of sensations orchestrated by one Noel Lorica. The passion and fire of the strings just come alive in audio illustrations, illuminating the musical mind. Mr. Lorica s compositions have a deep inner purpose to them however gambling with innovation every step of the way. The string manipulation is tenacious and strong. Beats, which are Latin by design, do digress into other ambiances throughout the project. For those who know of Mr. Lorica, his passion for the craft is part of the reason his spirit reveals itself from the music sheets. Listeners will feel this through his composition on the debut project. Forgiveness with its angelic introduction of strings mates with the ivory to form a balladesque gem. Lorica s diversification opens up in this piece, a cut of celebration for those fans of his work. It would be an injustice to push past Scent of Cinnamon a wonderful salute of energetic yet subtle sound. From a passive kiss of tones to an upbeat stroll, it s the way this should have been performed. First Dance is pure joy melted on a disc. Take it and make it a standard listen within your four walls. First Dance is the debut album of consummate acoustic guitarist, composer- Noel Lorica. Jazz Lovers will groove to the fresh compositions of Noel Lorica. He has mastered the style of Wayward Jazz. Wayward Jazz uses the acoustic guitar to wind its way through classic forms of jazz, from the provocative rhythms of Latin jazz while adding the precision of its Asian counterpart to the heartfelt melodies of Smooth Jazz. If you like Peter White or Marc Antoine it’s a good bet you’ll like Noel Lorica.

This collection of 11 instrumental works are truly songs without words. The guitar adds a voice filled with texture and emotion. Beginning with his award winning song " Back in Five", which introduces us to Noel Lorica’s vibrant, harmonious compositions and superb musicianship. As the album continues, it picks up tempo with body swaying precision in "Samba in A." Then it takes on the familiar "My Favorite Things" with a most astonishing acoustic jazz interpretation. The journey further transports you to the cool Brazilian shores with the sultry melody of "El Viento". Only to be brought back to pure innocence with the solo guitar of title song "First Dance".

At this point, most albums lose passion but "First Dance" only begins to further captivate with skill and soul. Each song in this album has unique character and is worthy of its own accolade. Some diversifying with piano melodies and guitar highlights as in "Forgiveness" & " Scent of Cinnamon". Or "Sarong Bangi" which brings in the swing that standard lovers applaud. While Latin jazz fans will clamor for the strong percussions of "Midnight Dreams" & "Last Dance" Wayward style. Finally ending with the smooth flowing beat of "Warm Winds".

This has got to be one of the best new jazz albums of the year and Noel Lorica’s remarkable introduction into the heart of the jazz community. You’ll sure to enjoy this little Wayward excursion.

His style is a cross between Marc Antoine and Peter White with a slight more edge to it....I was very impressed with "Back to 5,Midnight dreams, and Last Dance" but the rest of the album is definitely a pure delight to your musical senses. For all those Antoine and White Fans this is an album worth your time...

This is a great jazz cd. Whether you're into jazz or not, you'll enjoy this music, it appeals to everyone. Great easy listening music.

After my dog got a hold of some chocolate, I immediately went on the internet to check into the seriousness of her transgression. On one hand, I learned the amount she consumed would be far from fatal. On the other hand, I discovered veterinarian Dr. Noel Lorica!

While reading toxicity data, this wonderful music started to play! Soon I was just as engrossed in the music as I was the veterinary site I ws visiting. Thankfully, there was no mystery about who the artist was. The website plugged Dr. Noel as the artist!

I'm not as eloquent as some when it come to describing music. All I can say is that this is the best CD I've purchased in a long, long, time...
