Creepy Fun!,
This review is from: The First Day Of Christmas: Deadly Tattoo (Paperback)
Having just finished "The First Day of Christmas:Deadly Tattoo" I find myself sad and bored. NOT with the book, but with the fact that I have finished it! It's a page turning mystery that you hate to put down. Just the sort of thing you want to curl up some evening in a favorite cozy spot and read and read and read! You tell yourself "oh, I'll just read a few more pages and go to sleep and at 2:00am, you're still saying JUST A FEW MORE PAGES".
Pam Chillemi~Jaeger has a story telling talent that grabs you in the first 10 pages and keeps you wanting to go further. The plot and characters develope quick and you get to know and understand them and walk along beside them through out the book. There are a couple little side bar characters that are just as interesting without taking away from the main plot or making it 'to busy'. Makes one hope the first day of 'Christmas' ( a play on words as the detectives name is Christmas) will go into perhaps 12 days of Christmas/books? Would be fun if Ms. Chillemi~Jaeger continues these adventures. It is one of those books you finish unhappily because you don't want it to end. Creapy and fun!

Quite the Christmas Present!,

This review is from: The First Day Of Christmas: Deadly Tattoo (Paperback)
I've been a fan of Pamela Chillemi-Jaeger's work since I first encountered it in indie press horror zines back in the 90's. It's often characterized by dark, disturbing scenarios but compassionate, human (if troubled) protagonists you can identify with and want to root for. THE FIRST DAY OF CHRISTMAS: DEADLY TATTOO is no exception, and here Chillemi-Jaeger proves as adept with crime/detective fiction as she is with horror. This novel has all the right stuff for fans of the genre: a twisted dark plot, an enigmatic cast of characters, and most importantly a likable sleuth hero whom we want to see tackle further cases in the future. And I'm happy to have learned that there will indeed be a second adventure for Mick Christmas coming down the road from publisher Terradan Works. Hurrah! Why, I feel like a little kid on Christmas Eve.
