4.0 out of 5 stars Great Illustrations!, July 13, 2006
By

This review is from: First German Word Book (Usborne Farmyard Tales) (Hardcover)
This book features different aspects of life, for examples, selling fruits and vegetables, getting ready for bed, etc., in a colorful, fun and interesting way. The main activity scene is in the middle of the page and the border is used to illustrate various items in the page and gives its German translation in bold and the English meaning in small letters. For example, in the beach scene a sandcastle is depicted in the border and translated. On every double page your child is challenged to find a small yellow duck, which is great for the younger children.
I did notice, however, subtle mistakes in the translation, for example: "Poppy is painting the trailer" is tranlated as:"Poppy streicht den Anhaenger." It is better to say:" Poppy streicht den Anhaenger an." (I am a native German).
