A good story for beginning readers.,
By A Customer
This review is from: The First Grade Friends: Lunch Box Surprise (Hello Reader, Level 1) (Paperback)
The simple words, and rhyme and rythm of the text make this a good choice for kids who are learning to read on their own. They will also appreciate the school dilemma. First we see what each child has brought for lunch. Then Sam discovers that his lunch box is empty - his mother forgot to pack his lunch. All Sam's friends pitch in to provide him with samples from their lunches, and Sam winds up with a feast. It's a nice story about sharing and solving problems.

My six year old really liked this story, and the text was also just the right level. Rhyme and repetition build reading skills while the cute pictures appeal to children. The little boy's dilemma in this story elicited my child's sympathy and then she was delighted with the happy ending.
